Buffalo's offense sucked vs a so-so Penn St, lost 27-14.
Fiami should play Presby every week, lost 58-0 to Wis.
BG having a typical game, a lot O, no D, leading Md 34-27.
UMass trails Colo, 31-14 at the half.

Another Matt Johnson TD pass, this for 44 yards to Rhodes. Johnson has 477 yards passing so far, and Roger Lewis has 200 yards receiving. Considering that BGSU has 619 yards of total offense and Maryland has only 324, and considering Maryland has committed 2 turnovers to 1 by BGSU, I have no idea why the score is even close. That's quite the contrast to the defensive battle between Buffalo and Penn State.

The bookies were close on Buffalo-Penn State, calling for a 17 point win by Penn State, who won by 13, but way off on BGSU, expecting Maryland to win by 7.

BG finally found their D in the 4th Q; three picks led to 14 of their 21 pts and they coasted to a 48-27 win.

Toledo leads Arky 6-0 in the 1st.

BG has Roger Lewis their version of Randy Moss on the team. That is the type of talent a MAC school needs to transcend nationally. Beyond BG the MAC East looks dreadful. Colorado is killing UMass. Miami and Kent have been rolled flat by Big Ten teams. Buffalo played okay today but Penn State is not very good this year.

BG overcame a bunch of mistakes and crushed Maryland in the 4th quarter. Big win for the MAC over the Big 10!

Also don't look now but Toledo is up on #18 Arkansas 6-0 in the 2nd quarter.

UMass down 48-14 now to Colorado. I didn't buy into the hype that UMass was going to contend in the MAC East and I'm glad I didn't.

Wow huge win for BG! Once again proves that top MAC vs mid level Big Ten is pretty comparable.

They also received a rather fortuitous call, something MAC teams never seem to get against the money schools, with the game tied right before BG's go ahead score. Maryland threw a pass along the sideline that would have given them a first down inside the 20. It was ruled incomplete because his outside foot landed on the sideline. They reviewed it and it stood but it was clear that his inside foot hit inbounds first. If Maryland scores there it might be a different story since they fell apart once they were forced to throw. That being said after the call BG embarked on an impressive 99 yard drive for the go ahead score. Their offense looks scary.

Well Maryland also received a rather fortuitous call, no make that a very fortuitous call, as right after BG went up 27-20 and stopped the Terps on a 3rd down play to force a punt after an incomplete pass, BG was whistled for a 15 yard penalty on a complete BS call to give Maryland a first down and instead of punting, Maryland went on to score a TD. Complete crap call! BG guys were congratulating each other on the stop, no motioning to Maryland, no throat slashing, and out came the flag. Ridiculous. BG also missed two gimme FG's and allowed a punt return TD and ended the game at the Maryland 5, and still beat them by over 20.

Agreed. EMU beating any FBS team on the road is big.

EMU's 1st road non-conference win vs. an FBS team in 27 years...

For the day, the MAC was 2-5 vs "P"5 teams (wins by BG and Toledo; losses by Akron, Buffalo, BSU, Fiami and UMass), and is now 2-10 on the year.

Today the MAC was 2-1 vs G5 teams (Ohio and EMU(!!!) won; WMU lost badly at Ga Southern), and is now 4-2 for the year. That makes the MAC 6-12 vs 1A schools.

Still unbeaten (6-0) vs 1AA; CMU, NIU and Kent all won.
