Just got home from the game and a good game it was...if you like to see yellow on the ground 27 times. So, the D was real good and the O stumbled. If we are gonna win big this year we cannot have 10 Penalties a game, we cannot miss 42 yard Fg, we need to kick the ball into the endzone more and our Punting has to be more like Marshall's was.

I was real glad to see we looked just as physical and athletic (if not more so) than Marshall). You take away the long run and the D was really dominant. But, let's face it their QB was not very good tonight. We will see a lot better in the MAC. That's where we will see just how good this D really is.

Now let's not stumble...

Until further notice:

On punt receiving team--fair catch everything

Do not block the gunners.

Too many of the penalties came on the punt return team--putting the offense ten yards deeper.

Papi looks good back there but should have some rule of counting hang time seconds and automatically calling a fair catch vs taking his eyes off the ball for a quick glance and then trying to catch it. Not worth the potential negatives for the unlikely taking it to the House. The D made sure it only cost 3 this time.

With so many penalties it's obvious that the refs were calling it verrrry close. But we also had 10 vs Idaho last week, so it's not all on the refs. We can't have 10+ penalties every game and expect to win. Next week's opponent, SELA, is a very good team; they're 22-7 over the past 2+ seasons. They're maybe better than half the teams on our schedule and will take advantage of penalties.

Christmas sometimes comes early and for us it was last night. Marshall had a penalty on first down on five of its first seven possessions and 1 on second down. When you have 7 possessions in the whole first half and you start with first and 15, 20 or 25, it's pretty tough to score against a good D.
