Outside of (maybe) his brother, Rourke is the best QB we've had in a couple of decades.

And he's only getting p5 offers from conference bottom dwellers like Wake, Indiana, and Vanderbilt. Wake, at least, has had a solid stretch over the last 5 years.

But that's pretty disappointing and says a lot about the talent disparity between us and the P5.
Umm, why do you say that? He plays "not to get hurt'. CFL is his best hope.

I'm sure Tyler Tettleton is not happy about this post.
Tyler was still the best overall. Kurtis was the best pure passer, but his "prime" was too short. He was a late bloomer, had a spectacular year cut a little short by the knee, then this year was good, but not the same due to his recovery and lack of a running game most of the year.

Haven't seen anything on the trackers or X. He's posting Miles offers, but nothing on his.

Rourke to visit both Indiana and Wake Forest

From the standpoint of a coach to play for, I’d give Wake the edge as Clawson is a terrific person. He’s proven himself over the years and is a better person than coach, and let’s face it, that’s saying a lot with what he’s accomplished at the places he’s been, he’s done a fantastic job as a coach. As far as the campus and football facilities, Indiana has the edge. While Wake is a very beautiful campus, it’s small and if you didn’t know any better, you’d think you were on a D-III campus (not saying that’s a bad thing, many like it for that reason). IU has the look and feel of a major university but also has a beautiful campus with limestone building built from the nearby quarries. Wake is down the road from Winston-Salem but it’s a small city that is sort of too quiet for my liking when it comes to city life. I’m a country boy at heart so I love small towns and the quiet, but there’s something odd to me about a quiet city. That’s just me. Downtown Bloomington is right by the school and when you walk through the main IU gates you go right into the student district, which then blends into downtown Bloomington. Indiana is one of my favorite Big Ten schools. From the football facilities part, IU gets the edge. It has a very nice stadium (they done a lot to it in recent years). I’ve said the same thing about Indiana football as I have Akron - and that is - if they ever get a program to match their facility, look out. All of IU’s main football facilities are on campus. The main ones at Wake are down the road. Wake has the better weather, IU has the better football conference. I do think it shows incredible praise that IU’s new coach has offered him in his inaugural season. It’s one think for a veteran coach to say I want you. But it also says a heck of a lot for a new coach to say you’re my guy. Rourke can’t go wrong with either school IMO. Both would provide him with a new opportunity at a higher level. Personally I’d like to see him at Indiana out the four offers he currently has. Wake would be right on IU’s heels though.

He won’t be the last. The Ohio program has gotten by on player development and retention for the last 20 years. They develop because there’s good coaching and little coaching turnover (new personalities and schemes) and they stay because Athens is a fun place to go to school. But now, we’re in an era where it’s player development just to have someone else reap the fruits. You know how you spell player retention? N-I-L. And we need some people with apartments and car dealerships and all that to start buying in or there will be a dozen more starters gone. There’s just too much money out there (and none of it is in Athens yet.)

Didn't realize he had another year left. I guess that's why I'm not upset.

Welcome to the new era of Ohio Football in 2024.

I ran across an article about several Virginia Tech transfers still playing in their bowl game (December 27) because they liked the other players and the coaching staff and wanted to play the game for them. Here it seems when they go in the portal, they’re off the team. I’m wondering if that’s a coach’s decision or the players?

It’s a team/program/ student athlete decision. and the VT decision is on the very rare side.

Makes complete sense to me. He’s crushed it in the MAC. He was awarded a 7th year (it still blows my mind how many years of eligibility some of these guys have/get) and he should exercise it to the best of his ability. He should certainly get some P5 offers.

Not sure. Maybe I'm wrong, but I always had the feeling Bangura didn't like it at Ohio. I just always got the feeling he wanted to be somewhere other than here. I could be completely wrong, I never met the guy and maybe it wasn't like that at all. But I always had the feeling he settled on coming to Ohio and had one foot out the door for the next stop.

I think if that were the case then he would of left after his freshman year when he had over 1,000 yards rushing. I'm just happy we were able to keep him for another year.

I know this happened earlier today, but Kent State LB transfer, Luke Murphy, chose EMU over us. He entered in the middle of the season and Ohio and EMU were his only two FBS offers. Hoping we get Carrico.

Well remember he ended the year injured and I believe needed surgery. That’s not the case this time around.

Yes, you are completely wrong. Sieh loved it here and he and his mother had very close relationships with Coach Albin. In fact, Albin had a standing weekly Friday morning call with Mrs. Bangura.

It's hard to blame somebody like Bangura.

At this point in his football journey, he likely recognizes that an NFL career's unlikely. And also sees what RB careers look like in the NFL these days. They're short and largely it's seen as a commodity role that nobody wants to pay for outside of a handful of truly elite RBs.

So if he can find some money with his last years of eligibility, he kind of has to. Good luck to him.

Vanderbilt QB Ken Seals posted a picture with Albin last night and said he had a great visit at Ohio. Maybe we’re trading starters.

He's got two years left, so that's a good start.

28 TD / 22 INT in his career.

I think a lot of people don't realize that this is likely the only chance for these guys to make some money playing football. It's hard not to wish them the best.
