Ohio 28, Akron 17.

Monroe, get your butt in here. Or is your wisdom only from hindsight?

No way in the world does Ohio lose to Akron. Period. It hasn't happened in the last 7 meetings and it certainly won't happen this season. Ohio's win streak over Akron will hit 8 and will continue to climb for many years to come. Akron had their shot against Ohio last year and blew it. The Zips don't have a clue how to beat Ohio, and it's in their heads. They just can't win. Similar to the Idaho game, Ohio will jump ahead by double digits and cruise.

Ohio 31
Akron 17

Vick showed outstanding maturity in running the offense against Minne--he looked so confident and seemed to make the right decisions. So my prediction is based on him doing no better, no worse against the Zips. That means more points scored on a MAC Defense VS a Big10 type.

But I also believe that Akron will put points on the board. Ohio 42-other guys 27. I see #81 with two receiving scores; one a dart across the middle and the other where he rambles for 18, leaving a wake of missed tackles in his path.

Daz and Papi electrify the OHIO faithful and the Zip fans lament, why can't we get play makers like that?

I thought we'd beat Minnesota, and we almost did, but I'm worried about this game, that I also predicted as a W. I think they'll be a great emotional let down after coming up just short against the Gophers. I still think we will win but it'll be much closer than if we'd beaten U of M. I'm going with:

Ohio 24
Kangaroos 17

Draw or behind at half, Bobcats get in gear in the second half.

Could we see the AJ-Irons two-back set this week? One never knows. If so, I would predict a greater OHIO advantage, but I just don't think we'll see it for a few more games.

I guess I'll be contrarian: Akron 24, Ohio 17.

So much scares me about this game. All our injuries, the weather, "life on the road in the MAC." Before we had all our injury-landslide seasons of the recent past, we would annually lose at least one early MAC game we should have won. I fear this is it.

I really want us to get off to a fast start in league play and make BG have to keep up. C'mon, Cats, prove me wrong!

I delegate my prediction chore here to Swank, Alan.

He's kinda cranky like me.

Now, GET OFF MY LAWN.

Life on the road in the MAC isn't the same as basketball where home teams win 66% of their games statistically. Akron I'm sensing is playing to its talent level which is improved looking at how they did against weak competition. When they played Pittsburgh and Oklahoma, more talented teams they didn't look too good. What it says is Bowden isn't able to get his guys to execute a complex game plan required to compete against more talented teams. Frank is normally good about getting his guys to execute a game plan.
