As we head into year 11 of conference play with Frank at the helm here's a look at his cumulative record vs each MAC team in regular season play (MACC excluded). Any surprises?

8-2 Akron (5-0H, 3-2A)
8-2 Miami (4-1H, 4-1A)
6-4 Buffalo (4-1H, 2-3A)
5-5 Kent State (2-3H, 3-2A)
4-6 Bowling Green (1-4H, 3-2A)
4-1 Temple (3-0H, 1-1A)
2-0 UMass (1-0H, 1-0A)

5-0 Eastern Michigan (2-0H, 3-0A)
2-1 Northern Illinois (1-1H, 1-0A)
2-2 Ball State (1-1H, 1-1A)
1-2 Western Michigan (1-0H, 0-2A)
1-4 Central Michigan (0-2H, 1-2A)
0-3 Toledo (0-2H, 0-1A)

37-20 vs MAC East (20-9H, 17-11A)
11-12 vs MAC West (5-6H, 6-6A)
48-32 TOTAL (25-15H, 23-17A)

It's very interesting to see that there is little difference between the winning percentage at home (.625) and the winning percentage on the road (.575). Particularly odd is the record against BG, where they have lost most games at home, but have done well on the road. (Let's hope that happens again this year.)

The record against the MAC West is a little bit concerning, especially when you count the fact that almost half the wins came from Eastern.

Man I love that 4-1 record over Temple though.

And 8-2 against Miami is also awesome. I just wish the Redchickens would give Ohio a little bit more of a push year to year. No wait, kidding, no I don't hahahahahaha.

Well, really it's two schools that have given Solich fits, Toledo and CMU, and neither are on the schedule this year. You can split the West this way:
EMU: 5-0
Ball State, NIU, WMU: 5-5
Toledo, CMU: 1-7

Miami has been recruiting well, so they may improve over the next few years. Hopefully their record against Ohio will get worse, not better, despite that.

The 1-4 home record vs BGSU was a surprise to me, and the games weren't even close.

-12, L 21-9 ('06)
-25, L 28-3 ('08)
+24, W 49-25 ('10)
-12, L 26-14 ('12)
-18, L 31-13 ('14)

Last year's game was closer than the final score indicated. Lots of yardage gained -- between the 30s. Also, there's the game that you must give an assist to the Columbus Dispatch on, if you'll recall. I'd put an asterisk next to the BG record. ;-)

There should be an asterisk by one of these where BG set the all time NCAA record for blocking punts with about 36! Well it felt like that watching it anyway.

As much as I hate to admit it that 2006 BG debacle and ensuing legal issues became a unifying moment for the team.

Hey, they couldn't block the one that went through the punter's legs. ;-)

Toledo has given every OHIO team fits since the days of Chuck Ely! It's been one long nightmare, home or away!

I agree with you on that one, Chief!

I need to look it up, but I believe we have not beaten them at home since I was in school, and maybe only once at their place. Or, is it the other way around? Whatever, it's a very woeful record. Please note that in my pre-season picks I said will beat them in the MACC this year. Hope springs eternal!

I agree, I can't recall ever watching a game where it felt like the team that lost by 18pts should have won, but it really felt like OU should have won that game. What's crazy is had we beat BG last year we would have been MAC East champs.

Fact: We lost last year.

Further fact: The team that finishes second, that scores the least amount of points is not in any way considered the winner,

MAC East Champs, guaranteed bowl game and a shot at a MACC. Ohio only lost to NIU by 7 last year and could have won a rematch in Detroit.
