The annual beating up Akron and ruining their season is upon us. Ohio is going for its 8th straight win over the Zips and Akron knows they can't beat Ohio. It's in their heads. Their players know it and in the offseason Cody Grice said this. “I want OU, and I mean that. It seems like every year that’s always the game where we go through our slump. I have no problems with anybody on their team, nothing like that, but I want OU.” Well that slump is about to start all over again. They want us? We'll they're gonna get us. Last time we went to Akron we crushed them 43-3. No way Ohio leaves Akron without a win again.

Akron losing this game has to win 5 of their remaining 7 games to finish 7-5. They have to play @BG and CMU two probable losses. They probably don't finish with a winning record again. Bowden has a tough recruiting situation in Northern Ohio at the moment with Bowling Green and Toledo having strong programs. Akron has never won more than 7 games in Division 1-A so winning 5-6 games there isn't bad. They should give Bowden an extension if he can get to .500 for the first time in 10 years.

It was pretty much dead on the point spread, which was 2.5 points, so it was neither better than expected nor worse than expected. I'm fairly certain that if Vick had been healthy, expectations would have been higher, but he wasn't, so any victory is a good thing.
