After their upset of Arkansas, Toledo is 30th in the AP Poll with 29 votes and 42nd in the coaches poll with 6 votes. If Toledo can beat Iowa State on Saturday they might be pretty close to 25th in the AP Poll. Oklahoma State is #25 now and they only have 48 votes. 20-24 are much higher.

FWIW, Minnesota has some votes in both polls.

Toledo still at 30 after their win over Iowa State. It took OT, but Toledo did pull it out and that is the most important thing. Arkansas lost again which hurts Toledo.
At this point, Toledo just needs to keep winning. If they don't slip up, I don't see any reason they can't claw their way into the Top 25 by the time they play NIU in early November.

Toledo's schedule the next 5 weeks is as follows: Arkansas State, @Ball, Kent, EMU, @UMass
With that schedule, Toledo could very realistically be sitting at 7-0 heading into that NIU game.

Speaking of NIU, they have BC this week. After that, they have a fairly easy schedule heading into that Toledo game. Hopefully they can beat BC. That could setup a pretty big MACTION game on that first Wednesday in November!

P.S. Minnesota still getting votes. Lets beat them.

I could see us starting to receive a few votes if we win in Minneapolis this weekend.

It really sad how little respect the MAC gets. I look at NIU, they lose by 1 TD to #1 and they get ZERO votes for the top 25(AP). Sure OSU played like crap but jeez, give NIU some credit for making them play like crap. NIU played a hell of a game, especially their defense. Plus, it's not like NIU is new to the top 25 either, they have been ranked quite a bit over the last 5 year. You would think that would gain them SOME respect... but I guess not.

I listened to a Columbus Monday evening QB show on WTVN today and after interviews with several experts, all of whom acted like all of OSU's woes were self-inflicted, they finally interviewed a guy who started off by saying that you must give credit to NIU's defense. He said they had an excellent defensive game plan and that their scheme was one that OSU would not see again this year in all likelihood and that it had their QBs and receivers all confused. I suspect if he's right, they will see that scheme again as other coaches view the video. Perhaps, NIU found an Achilles heel.

Agreed. It'd likely be an extremely slow climb up but especially in the AP I think we could grab some votes with a W this weekend.

Actually probably not! NIU ran a 3-4 which is very different in scheme and responsibilities than the more common 4-3, so much so that you do not just jump into and between an odd and even fronts. This defense causes some issues largely because it's not seen much. Same defense that Grobe ran when he had some great defenses here in Athens.

NIU deserves credit, but that NIU D gave up big points & yards in their previous games. Offense is the strength of the NIU team.

Meanwhile, OSU is working with nearly the same personnel that put up 50+ and 40+ against Wisconsin, Bama and Oregon (even with 4-5 turnovers here).

Additionally, I watched the NIU and OSU game. NIU ran the same scheme Hawaii ran the week before (according to analysts) and the same scheme Oregon used against OSU in the NC game.

It's fair to reason that OSU is just struggling on offense right now. That Tom Herman guy at Houston may be a genius.
