Frankly, I'm surprised it would be allowed in the first place.

I don't think it's uncommon, but, should it be allowed? Most private employers banned alcohol on premises some years back because of the risk of legal liability. Statutes vary by state, but in many, if an employee consumes alcohol on premises, and then has an accident on the way home, the employer may be held liable for damages that result.

In this case you have other reasons, too. Since you are dealing with minors, it sets a bad example, particularly when you tell them not to go out drinking. Also, universities are often alcohol-free zones.

I'm surprised this is allowed anywhere. All the rules the NCAA has with it, and it's allowed in a locker room, or coaches office?

I'm sure this wasn't "allowed" in the locker room ever. USC is just doing damage control right now. Frankly, putting this out there makes them look worse. Their PR/MR guy must be losing his mind right now.

It sounds like he was smuggling a bunch of it in anyway...in his stomach.

Dude has a serious problem. He needs help and the kids are gonna need help getting through this too. Various reports as follows:

-Sarkisian was believed to be either be under the influence or hungover on Sunday morning. Players and assistants smelled alcohol on his breath.

-Sarkisian was believed to be drunk on the sideline DURING a game against Arizona State. Assistants had to remove him from a player-only huddle on the sidelines.

-Sarkisian was visibly intoxicated on the plane ride home from Washington State in 2014.

-Sarkisian had drinking problems at Washington, too. He racked up hotel bills and expensed alcohol frequently.

Hate to say anything nice about USC, but they're at least doing the right thing by trying to get him help.

In that case, I need to change the thread title.

Showing up drunk for a meeting the day after being forced to take a LOA is not good. Hope he straightens things out.
