Nice piece, with analysis of both sides of the ball. Sadly he doesn't suggest an easy fix for the defensive problems in the second half.

Ohio tried some changes as well. Bringing a safety up. Swapping the nose and three-technique tackle against certain looks. But nothing worked.
...
All I know is the defense that played the second half wasn’t nearly as physical, determined or fundamentally sound as the Ohio defense that played the first two quarters.

Which is why I would ask the question again was it a scheme issue or was it a personnel issue?

Inexperienced personnel is what FS focused on in his comments today. Ohio lost perhaps the best defender in the MAC in Poling, and all told the defense was lacking its top four LBs for a good portion of the second half.

I guess what I’m saying is a lot of young linebackers were in the game and obviously in the second half the fits didn’t play out the way we’d like it to play out in stopping the run.
