Buffalo is next week. Things fans not quitting on the Bobcats are calling for next week.

- Holding Buffalo without a TD.

- Smith and Reid both above 100 yards receiving.

Anyone else not quitting on the Cats please join in.

Bowl eligible and going to a bowl are two different things. Just another made up/contrived "fact" by the ad.

Odds are pretty good that 6-6 would do it.

This is exactly what I was thinking earlier today. "Bowl eligible" in this era is the refuge of the apologists.

Not rude, just statements of pure facts. Tough for some like you to accept. Move along trophy for everyone man. We just didn't get it done today against a clearly superior team on this particular day. On to Buffalo.

I must have missed the part where someone said "Bowl Eligible and going to a bowl are the same thing."

Oh, that's right, no one said that... ever.

No one did but the implication is certainly there.

I am not giving up on this team either. Western did us a favor. Put us in our place when we needed it with still some football to be played this season. Got to focus on where we can improve our technique and gameplay moving forward. We cannot improve our strength and speed-- that happens in the off-season. But, we can improve a ton of other things if OUr team stays focused.

The good news is we are clearly the 5/6 best team in the MAC. Been that way for a while now.

This year in the MAC, bowl eligibility could equal bowl bid. The MAC has five bowl slots, maybe six if Toledo runs the table and gets an access bowl. The overall records of the MAC teams are:
Toledo 6-0 (bowl eligible)
Ohio 5-2
BG 5-2
NIU 4-3
WMU 3-3
CMU 3-4
Akron 3-4
Kent 3-4
Buffalo 2-4
BSU 2-5
UMass 1-5
Fiami 1-6
EMU 1-6

But the MAC might have only five or six bowl eligible teams. Just four teams have a winning record. Only two others have a relatively easy path to six wins. WMU should get to six; they have likely wins in EMU, Fiami and BSU before closing the season with BG, NIU and Toledo. Akron may get to six; possible wins at UMass and Fiami means they might have to win only one home game (CMU, Buffalo and Kent).

Three others have a tougher schedule. CMU has just one home game left (Toledo), so they may have to win three of four road games: BSU, Kent, Akron and EMU. Kent has to win three of these: BG, Buffalo, CMU at home; Ohio and Akron on the road. Not easy. Buffalo has to win four out of these: Ohio, NIU, UMass at home; Fiami, Kent, Akron on the road. Also not easy.

The bottom four (BSU, UMass, Fiami, EMU) are basically out of it.

Well, thank you for that, however, please tell me the MAC team with better home attendance this year or last year. That is where it starts. In the MAC where is it better?

"Attendance" - 20K sitting on hands providing no benefit of home field support. I'm just kinda getting bored with it. 2.5 hrs there/back to sit in a hour long moment of silence. The band is the only noise - and good noise it is.

More fan support noise at the women's volleyball match tonight with with what - 1K?

Where in the MAC is it better? 2K making no noise is no different than 20K making no noise. Comparison I would make is Marshall - closer than any MAC school.

Yes attendance, the best in the MAC. That is MACC fan support. Be unhappy if you want, but, the fans are showing up NIU, Toledo, WMU, BGU etc.

In an effort to get a bowl bid a MAC team really needs to win 7 games, remember we were 6-6 LY and did not get a bid. 7 wins is a sure thing and would eliminate us watching what the better conference teams W-L records are in the HOPE that some don't get to 6 wins which would leave the door open for a MAC 6 win team.

I wish I could quit on this University. I'd be better off starting my work week than I am after what went down yesterday. Problem is - I can't. (please save the Broke Back Mountain references)

It has become very frustrating to see these let downs multiple times year after year while coaches make pit stops at other schools and seem to be able to build excellent teams in a few short years before they move on to a bigger paycheck.

Blown out by Buffalo years ago, HC losses to Ball/CMU/BG, back-to-back-to-back beatdowns from BU/BG/Kent, running a 12 second play with 10 seconds left at Fiami, etc.

We've had some highs for sure. I don't discount where we were before Frank. We have dominated a low level rival for a decade. We have had some big wins over Temple, Buffalo and Marshall that were awesome.

I just don't see us on the same page with Toledo, BG or WMU (substitute NIU generally).

The sting will wear off by next weekend in hopes we roll up a crappy Buffalo squad. Then another mid-week prime time game against a team with migrant coaches, a crappy campus and a top-shelf QB.

Maybe the bye week in between gets Poling back. I don't know about White's injury but he is tough to catch or run down. Great talent.

As always - Go Bobcats!
