I don't know if Frank should leave, but no coach suits up, yet they are responsible. Nobody should accept the fact that Ohio has been no better than the MAC's 5th best team in the last four year. Frank needs to make some adjustment at the least. He does not have a lifetime pass.

Let's get bob stitt so at least we will be entertaining to watch . Rather lose 60-35 than 49-14 I'm just saying . At least we can brag about something but as of now we just sit around in October and November and watch OHIO get destroyed by everyone . It's just painful to watch . Let's get Stitt so we can at least be fun to watch and hope that one day we can get back to what frank had us at just a few short years ago

One request, if you are not accepting of the current results and really want change, call for it based upon that. Many are feeling the need to make personal attacks on good well meaning people who have devoted years of their lives and are truly dedicated to Ohio. If you need more wins, that is enough, no need for the personal attacks.
Did someone hack your account. This is the fourth time I've read this. Go away please although you did provide plenty of comic relief for those in the chat room today.

I was at OU in 1994 to 1998. I saw some nad football. I saw us as the bottom 5 in the NATION!I have loved Frank. He saved us. He brought joy to my sports life as I really only root for the Cats. That being said I never worried about us losing him to Power 5. We got lucky we had a guy who frankly was too old to start over and lets not forget the running car issue early on that was swept under the rug. We saved his rep! It is time for him to retire so he can salvage his legacy. Its like Larry Hunter. I love LH but we would have plateaud with him too instead we have had sweet 16 and multiple bids. And someone mentioned Turner Gill. I would support that in a second.

Thank you, Frank, for your service. The program really is better off today than it was when you took over, and Bobcat Nation will always be grateful for the turnaround. But it's obvious that we have plateaued, and we are regressing. It's not fair to you to ruin the memories of your successes by watching everything you've built fall apart, and it's not fair to your successor to ruin his chances to take us to the next level. So it's time for both of us to move on.
Hate to say it, but this is dead on.

Thanks, Frank. But it's time.

Frank would probably endorse turner gill as his replacement. Given his success at buff and liberty I would not mind seeing us go that route!

OCF, this team could beat the Patriots it is just they aren't going to. So, I'll make another famous graeters hot fudge sundae bet that we lose to BG.

I understand the frustration and criticism of Coach Solich and his staff; however, I disagree with the idea that this program is headed in the wrong direction. It seems to me that Ohio is recruiting better athletes at this school than has ever been recruited before, which is no easy task for a school that has no major media market anywhere nearby, let alone a major city to draw from. In addition, the Bobcats are being seen on a regular basis as far away as Los Angeles, which never happened in previous years. The Ohio brand name only seems to be growing and growing.

The problem isn’t Solich, it is talented, yet inconsistent athletes, who would have been recruited at major schools, if, in fact, they were more consistent. The level of athlete that we recruit also seems to get injured a lot, or they are absolutely worn out by the end of the season. I don’t think that this has anything to do with a lack of will or coaching, I think that Ohio is simply not getting the level of athletes that are needed to sustain a fully competitive season. The day that we do, I have to admit I would be suspicious as to how we are getting such athletes to begin with.

Living on the West Coast, I have watched such super powers as USC take an absolute dump athletically against the likes of Washington, only to turn around and demolish a very good Utah State team. Likewise, I watched UCLA get pushed all over the field by Stanford, only to totally dominate Cal the other night. Ole Miss looked good at the beginning of the season, but not now. Alabama looked done, but seems stronger than ever today, and then there are those Ohio State Buckeyes, who look like they are just begging to lose. The point being that even the so-called top dogs are having problems with consistency.

Yes, I more than anyone else would like to see Ohio just dominate and crush the competition in the MAC, but let us be real. Western Michigan looked really fast and really good against a very sluggish Ohio team, and Buffalo could have been beaten if only the turnovers had been eliminated. I don’t blame Mr. Vick for that either. He has done a tremendous job with the talent that he has, but the game literally came down to the fact that the ball seemed to keep bouncing in Buffalo’s direction. Good for them. It just points out that any MAC team can win on any given day, and the fact that the Bobcats seem to consistently do more winning than losing these days is a far cry from the team that used to be listed in Playboy Magazine not only as the number one party school, but as one of the perennial doormats of all Division I football.

The last thing I want at Ohio is another carpetbagger, who is one and done. Keep Solich!!

I have been observing this site for a number of years and finally decided to join in on the discussion. Coach Solich has elevated OUr football program to new heights. Having said that, he is 71 years old and I honestly wonder how long he wants to continue coaching. Spurrier finally hung up his visor after an incredible coaching career. Perhaps it's time for Frank to do the same. As for a successor, either find some brilliant YOUNG Coach at the FCS level or promote Burrow. In my little fantasy world, Joey then leaves Columbus to play for his dad.

You could go with defense. Jimbo Fisher followed Bobby Bowden and has been what 64-12 since. Never mind yesterday.

In my opinion this offense should have been built around OUlette. With the amount of talent this team has had running back, a two back thunder and lightning tandem would be fun to watch also.

I disagree with Frank's decision to go for it on fourth down.

Whenever Frank does move on, say it's after his contract expires or if he decides to step down, I sincerely hope he stays connected to the football program. He's OUr legend.

I know their record is not good this year and they have given a lot of points on defense (not sure if the offense is not producing and partly to blame), but a name to throw out for consideration would be Nick Toth of Fresno State. Nick played for Jim Grobe and also earned his masters degree in Athletic Administration from Ohio.

We need someone who is high energy, displays leadership and can sell Ohio University not only to prospective recruits but also the student body and alumni.

We need to be realistic on who we can attract as a head coach. Someone like Dave Clawson was a great hire for BG and someone who had an excellent history as a head coach. I just don't know if we can attract a young and established head coach like Clawson who does not have an emotional tie to Ohio University.

We can look at well known coaches on the back end of their career. Solich was perfect for Ohio at the time and rescued the program, but we all know the time for transition is here.

Nick is from Cleveland so he should be a tremendous asset recruiting in Ohio and also has connections around the country including Texas and the west coast for filling in the rest of a recruiting class.

Again, we can nit-pick and should discuss stats, records and schemes such as a 3-4, but we need some energy.

I appreciate everything Coach Solich has done and whether it is this year or next year he will leave this program much stronger than when he arrived.

My biggest concern is that apathy is starting to grow within the alumni & fan base.

No offense, but Nick Toth has Lichtenberg and Knorr germs.

Interesting thought on Nick. Both he and his wife are Athens High grads so the local connection would be huge. Our ad has made it known though that we are at the place now where we hire head coaches (both basketball coaches and volleyball recently).

Ummm. If Vick isn't to blame on 2 pick sixes, who is? He, himself, even blamed himself in postgame interviews. He played a poor game and made poor decisions. If he is going to hold himself accountable, we can too.

And as far as winning more than we are losing....ummm...not true either. We have an under .500 record in the MAC since starting 7-0 and getting ranked in 2012.

So, no. I'm going to respectfully disagree that things are fine.
