So... anyone going to this game? I'll be in Niagara Falls this weekend, but not sure if this game is in the cards. Weather is getting shakier by the day and not sure the gf is sold on this. On the other hand, never been to Buffalo and would like to check this campus off my list. ... which doesn't exist. I have no list.

Call it 20 minutes from niagra falls to ub stadium. Another 5 minutes to the bobcat bash location if memory serves (actual time from bobcat bash to parking at UB may vary due to traffic

I'm going with my wife. I'm also curious about the Buffalo campus, but it's split in two pieces and the less interesting part is where the stadium sits. Not sure if I'll make the effort to visit both.

There's also a whole different university in town called Buffalo State University. It can get confusing. I had a friend who taught at Buff State, and he was continually having to explain that he wasn't a Bull but a Bengal. The big one is The University of NEW YORK at Buffalo. That's the one in the MAC.

Buffalo DOES have multiple campuses, three to be exact! They have a NORTH campus (actually in Amherst) where the athletic facilities, a SOUTH campus is in a residential neighborhood in Buffalo, and they have a Downtown campus and they are three distinct different campuses.

OK, whatever, but if you are going to be in town for the weekend, wouldn't you stick your head into the stadium and watch the game? This is the Ohio Football Message Board. You are talking about not going to a game because of your girlfriend and the potential weather (63 degrees and possible rain)? Seriously? This is a very strange post you have submitted. Sorry if I am being harsh, but WTF?

BTC. I wasn't challenging that The U of NEW YORK at Buffalo had multiple campuses. I was just informing folks that there was another state university in town, also part of the same state system, but with a different administration, a separate campus and separate athletic program, that folks often get confused with its bigger brother.

IIRC, technically there is only one State UNIVERSITY in Buffalo (SUNY-University at Buffalo), and that MAC-member university does have three campuses (North/Amherst, South/Main & Bailey Ave, and Downtown/Medical). In addition, there is another SUNY-system school, Buffalo State College (a.k.a. Buff State, technically SUNY-College at Buffalo) located at the North end of Elmwood Village (or between Elmwood Village and North Buffalo). Buff State actually sits in a very scenic area, far nicer than either UB's medical campus or south campus, and far livelier than the Amherst campus

My Bobcat "man card" has more than its share of punches. It's fairly likely ill go, but it's quite a chunk of time, and there are other considerations, especially considering the amount of time I've devoted to Mets playoff games this fall, and will devote next week. Even from Niagara falls, the game against ub is a five hour commitment on vacation. as much as I love sports, I do like to balance things out with a little culture from time to time. Mostly I was wondering if there were any other bobcat meeting spots in case we did go.

Culture? In Niagara Falls? Well, I guess you've got The Falls (duh) and associated attractions (maid of the mist,, cave of the winds, eye). Beyond that...on the American side you've got the "international food court" (food court is really too classy a term), the Senaca Niagara Casino, any performers that might be playing at the casino while you're there, and whatever illegal drugs/dice games/dogfights you can find on the mean streets o Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls Canada offers a couple more options: (more) casinos and good restaurants. Of course the peak cultural activities on the Canadian side are underage drinking and the "Canadian Ballet", and I know DFC is over 21 years old, so...

(Sorry DFC, I'm not trying to give you a hard time: one of the conditions of my SUNY-Buffalo doctorate is mocking Niagara Falls as the opportunity presents itself)

I consider culture to be anything that isn't sports.

Looks like I made the right call. Two pick-sixes? I've had about all I can take of hoping this is the year Ohio finally has an effective offense. Warm hotel, good dinner soon and Craig Ferguson tickets. No regrets.
