From Uncle Wes: "Louisville is about as small as you can go and be a true urban area. It has a lot more to offer than Athens including an International Airport a few miles from campus. That's a real recruiting advantage."

While Athens can't compete with Louisville when it comes to international airports, perhaps it can when it comes to strippers?

Again, some of you guys must be smoking something. Getting 6/7 guys drafted and having a bunch of free agenst sign NFL contracts in 10 years is NOT good recruiting. It shows we get/make some real stars. The way to rate the results of your recruiting are on the field with the won-loss record. This is where it is obvious that this staff does not get ENOUGH QUALITY PLAYERS ON THE FIELD at the same time to win a MACC. Just the facts please...

In terms of fan interest there's one important difference, Marshall has always attracted a fair number of Ohio fans who live in the adjoining Ohio counties. The same is true for the bordering areas of Kentucky, including the Ashland area. OHIO, on the other hand, has never drawn well from Wood County (Parkersburg). I think, in part, this is due to many decades of almost complete neglect of this area by OHIO marketing folks.

Yet another thing we agree on. Counties along the river from Meigs County down to Scioto County has a large Marshall contingent, and Marshall spends good money in this area on advertising, billboards, TV ads and such.
