These are the things we know as facts:
1) Our running game has suffered since game 2.
2) We haven't forced any turnovers in these past 2 games.
3) Our run D has given up a lot these past 2 games.

So what happened between the Miami and Western Michigan games?
1) The answer could be the same as in TT's senior year after his injury, he stopped running. Same is happening now with Vick.
2) We fell in love with the big play approach and drifted away from the hard nosed running attack in favor of more passing plays.

Another overall observation.
1) We never seem to play with great intensity. Ask yourself "Does a team take on the personality of it's coach?" I say yes.

Moving forward comments.
1) Obviously most would agree that we are a real long shot to beat BG next week. However, we have seen teams in the past, that were given no chance, beat a clear favorite.
2) I am certainly not the most knowledgeable football fan, but, it would seem logical to me that we need to come up with a new strategy for this game.
3) Frank has shown a willingness to change from his previous approaches in the past, and it's time for him to change again.
4) These players are all kids, not professionals, and therefor their psyche is more than likely shaky right now which impacts their confidence level.
5) The team is now thinking, based on yesterdays quote from Ian, "Here we go again with the mid-season swoon". This mental state must we turned around and the coaches are the ones that can change that thought process.

I am not like some on this board, after Sat. game, that is ready to make a coaching change. I believe that Frank will make that decision if he feels he has lost this team. Frank is a special human being, he seems to have no ego, and has always displayed a profession approach, non-emotional, with his approach to coaching.

I am struggling to think of strong examples of when this has been true in recent years.

Penn State and Marshall (several times). Yes and yes. Those are at the top of the heap of Frank's signature win list.

Against upper level MAC schools we normally do not rise to the occasion. Since the big game winning field goal win against BG back in 2011, we have been their whipping boy. And even in that game it took some heroics to barely beat a 2 win squad.

It has more commonly been the opposite-that we crapped the bed when having a chance to win something and/or get a win against good opposition. Sprinkle in some bad beatdowns by teams we should have at worst lost by one possession to.

2010-Kent State bed wetting
2011-Buffalo collapse, Balls collapse, MACC collapse
2012-Miami collapse, BG loss at home with about 50 turnovers, Ball State thrashing, Kent beatdown *Did have a great performance in Independence Bowl with healthy team
2013-Bad home loss to average CMU team, 27 point loss to Buffalo, 49-0 loss to BG, 44-13 loss to Kent
2014-18 point loss to CMU, 18 point loss to BG, 21 point to WMU, 7 point loss to NIU-maybe one of the few games where we had a chance to win late in the game.

The game results show that we are not a top flight team within our conference, especially when the grind of a season gets to full strength.

I do get your point, but there was the 2011 win against Temple that got Ohio to the MAC Championship game. And the bowl win against Utah State that same season was pretty clutch. Not much since the first few games of 2012. The best win since then probably was Marshall this year.

Pretty sure there was a win vs Penn State to begin 2012.
