I think you both missed his point, as stupid as it was.

Really, not obvious?: Their ascent and our descent.

Not saying we have to play ND and be highly ranked. But yes to competitive, not blown out lots in MAC.

The left the MAC - rough couple of years - when they were not competitive, but have gotten groove this year:

2012 - 5-7 average loss by 21 points
2013 - 2-10 average loss by 10 points
2014 - 6-6 average loss by 13 points

Better conference. Better money. Better recruiting area. More upside. Not an excuse for our performance, but that is "why them."

This sounds like something coming from a Temple fan. But it's our own Monroe. How sick.

Saturday was the first time I had watched Temple this season for more than a few minutes (caught a little bit of the Penn State game earlier this season but that was it).

The impression I got is that they are noticeably more athletic across the board than when they were in the MAC. They used to produce good RBs and good D linemen in the MAC, and that hasn't changed, but I was impressed with the athleticism of their QB, WRs (especially with the size their WRs had), and LBs too.

The improvement has been steady too. They were 4-7 their first year out of the MAC, then 2-10, then 6-6, and now 7-1. I think the seniors this season would be Addazio's last recruiting class, so I wonder how much credit is due him, and how much is Rhule.

In any event, with eight P5 openings already, Rhule is probably getting a new job next season, so we'll see how long Temple can sustain their success.

I do not expect us to schedule Notre Dame. However, in all honesty their program appears to be headed in the right direction and OUr program appears to be going nowhere fast. While they certainly have improved from their days in the MAC I can not say that our program has improved. I hope the rest of this season proves me wrong but at the moment I just do not see it.

Are you talking about the Temple team that barely beat 1-7(0-4)UMass on a fluke block PAT a few weeks ago? Don't let the bright lights and big stage fool you. Temple is Temple.

Perimeter talking about fools...that is hilarious. Temple is light years ahead of us now and will get a bowl game much different than anything we get. I would take the success they are having this year for most anything we have had the last ten years.

Temple will get a bowl game based on the contractual agreements made by the conference they are affiliated with, as will Ohio, it has NOTHING to do with where you perceive one program to be in relation to another.

Currently Temple is 7-1 with their best win coming vs Penn State and you would take that over Ohio's 2012 when at this point in the season they were...... 7-1 with their best win coming vs Penn State? Fascinating.

If anyone watched that game Temple was not anywhere near as athletic as Notre Dame. Temple stayed in the game with a couple of picks and disciplined play.

The biggest difference being the "1", a 4 point loss to the #9 team in America, versus a 3 point loss to a team that would finish 4-8.

We'll see how Temple does down the stretch. That game against Memphis on Nov. 21 looms, and will be huge in the access bowl race.

I don't think anyone is arguing that they were as athletic as Notre Dame. My point is that they looked more athletic than when they were in the MAC.

At worst, Temple is probably going to finish 10-2 with wins over Penn State, at Cincinnati and at East Carolina. If the losses come to a potential unbeaten Memphis (who beat Ole Miss) and potential one/two loss Notre Dame (Clemson and maybe Stanford), then how in the hell is anyone arguing that Temple isn't a lot better than what they were three years ago? Who cares if they played a lousy game against UMass. Everyone plays a lousy game.

Its funny, Temple folks were always so arrogant in the face of their losses to us and other top MAC teams. It was sorta like, "this is cute and all, but someday we're going to move on to bigger and better things." And they were right. I guess we can't underestimate the influence of geography and $$$ in all of this.

Admittedly, it was painful to watch them hang with a top 10 team. They still couldn't win the MAC though. :)

A lousy win of any kind sounds good right about now compared to getting curb stomped by Buffalo.

Fun Fact: Temple was the last MAC team Ohio defeated that ended the season with a winning record --- 4 seasons ago.
