well that is certainly odd but I remember last year our band getting a sideline warning and I have never heard that at any other time either.

Ridiculous. Being a ref is a very tough job. I have first hand experience with that. With that said, the MAC needs to get their referees under control. A level this low reflects poorly on the entire conference.

And in both instances it's been Tony Canella.

Couldn't they review this one in the booth and decide whether the cheerleaders should be ejected for "targeted noise"? ;-)

I remember that we (the OU cheerleaders) got a warning at a women's basketball game for making 'to much noise' during the other teams free throws.

Earlier this season (maybe at one of our games) the ref asked the band not to play as the teams were at the line of scrimmage. There is a rule that band/PA music is to stop before the offense starts calling signals. But I've never heard it used against cheerleaders. Maybe they were yelling "Omaha, Omaha."

I thought the rule was that the band and/or loudspeaker musak had to stop when the referee signaled the ball ready for play and the play clock started. I've seen it go on several seconds after that and have worried that we might get a penalty called on us at times.

Let me qualify. The band is very good they always stop in time. The guy with his finger on the musak button not so much.

The band and the PA have to stop. The crowd, however, should then get louder. ;)

I've heard a lot bands keep playing until the offense breaks the huddle (or its equivalent). Haven't seen refs make an issue of it.

Seems eons ago, but remember when NFL refs would stop play to tell the fans to quiet down?
