With espns desire to control everything, I'm a little sick of this bowl selection show crap. Used to be bowls could extend bids much earlier, which allowed people to plan their travel around the holidays better. Now you have to wait to hear about a bowl that might be less than two weeks in the future and in a remote location with very expensive flights the only option.

***k espn.

As solicitOUs and happy as yOU are to see my opinions, I must say that I'm totally concerned with your petulant heave. Who do I send yOUr bowl of tears to?

Sorry that I do my best to support the Bobcats even when travel is involved. If we are going to a bowl, I'm at least going to try to get there. Sometimes I can, sometimes I can't. However, it would be much easier if I had 3-4 weeks of notice rather than the now espn-mandated 13 days.

So, if I call out others for their lack of support or lack of volume, I am at least putting my money where my mouth is when it comes to support. While you are in Cali and I understand it's hard for you to make many games, you can't be given much credence for calling out others when you simply aren't there.

As for the bowl of tears, you can send them to the same place you'll send yours when there's no coaching change after this season.

Fair enough. But reality is both that bowl game notice is much shorter these days than it used to be...and that there probably will be little in the way of coaching change and future results therefore.

I'm not so sure it's really shorter.

We never went to bowls way back when ESPN didn't control them.

This is a superfluous sentence that exists only to achieve the f***ing minimum expletive requirements in a DFC sponsored thread.

When we went to the mother forgetting GMAC bowl in 2006, we got our bowl bid after clinching the East in week 11. Granted it also helped that GMAC was after new years, but the extra time to plan was very much worth it. Now we get less than two weeks to plan for some remote town in Louisiana or Boise. Sometimes it just can't be done.

While we're at it, let's scream at the NCAA for allowing Army and Navy to play the week after everybody else is done. The CFP selection committee will keep an access bowl slot open if Navy is still in the mix come Dec 6. That's likely to screw up selections for several bowls until Army and Navy are done on Dec 12. That could give some folks less than three weeks, and maybe less than two, to make their plans.

DFC, I agree with the general thrust of your remarks. And, I'll add that it's very hard for me, personally, to get to any bowl that occurs before the latter part of December, because of family obligations around the holidays. My daughters and their families always come home for Christmas and often don't leave until a few days before the New Year's Eve. As a result the only OHIO bowl that I've been able to make was the GMAC Bowl in Mobile in January. I'd love to see us make the GoDaddy this year. That would make a nice Christmas present for me.

Despite OUr disputes, I think that OCF deserves a nice Christmas gift.

Wait a minute, seaweed swabbie pal of mine........you still have that massive unpaid tab from the GWC post-meetings that sits in waiting. Mo, make sure he shows you the money!

From personal experience similar to oldkatz, Monroe, I wouldn't take a sip of that beer until OCF has paid the tab in full.

If you guys do go to Mobile in January, you'll probably be the only Ohio U. alumni in Mobile-the Go Daddy Bowl is in December this year. :)

I think it's incredibly sad that we can't all just agree and say Amen when the general thrust of the post was "F^%$ ESPN". Never mind the digressions, that is some serious discord.

BTW: Amen!
