I thought the same thing about the seniors. It's terrible. I also feel bad for the 110 who work hard to put on a show and deserve an audience. As a fan who lives 6+ hours away I would love to come see a home MAC game with real relevance, but I absolutely can't unless I take two days off of work. That leaves me a Homecoming game when all the hotels are expensive and sold out, or a non-conference game against SW Indiana Tech.

MACtion peaked a couple of years ago, and now that it's not a novelty anymore is a problem. These midweek games, in the long run, will hurt - not help - the program. Eventually season ticket holders will scale back when they know they can't make a couple of the games. The commish and AD's have got to do something. Unfortunately it seems $ from ESPN speaks more than fan support, loyalty to the players, cheerleaders, band and overall pride in our program and school.

Remember about 4-5 years or so ago when this all started and TT was qb'ing us to some crackling good MACtion wins?

Did you object to these games as much then?

That is, if we were winning most of these games and they were all competitive (such that OHIO FOOTBALL showed well on the electronic transmission screens), would you object as much to the mid-week games?

[I'm not being sarcastic...I'm genuinely inquiring.]

From my memory, a few years ago, when they were new, most fans grumbled, but were willing to give it a shot since being on TV was new. Now they are used to it being on TV, and being on ESPN3 all the time, so the TV is not as big a deal for them. I don't think winning or losing on TV is the issue. I just think that people don't like mid-week games, and never liked mid-week games, and as each year passes, the value of the tradeoff, being on TV, decreases.

In any case, I believe Ohio is 2-2 on TV so far this year, aren't they?
I think we're 7 and 4. Hasn't every game been on "tv?"

I think of ESPN3 as a webcast, and networks such as ESPNU as TV.
