It's really uncanny how our wins this year seem to be tied to the turnover stat. In the last game against Kent we get 2 and give up 0 and we win. In the previous 3 losses we gave up a ton and got 0.

SO IF WE GET AT LEAST 2 AND GIVE UP O I PREDICT AN OHIO VICTORY.

The one concern I have about this game is our recent lack of success against the West. We haven't beaten a Western Div team not named EMU since 2011 -- seven straight vs NIU, WMU, CMU and BSU. Another game to get off the schneid.

A Ball state fan checking out Ohio. Let me say that Ohio has the QB that BSU has had fits stopping ever since Lembo arrived in that he can run and they have yet to stop a running QB. Lembo is getting a lot of grief over the past two seasons and luckily for him BSU can not afford to buy him out. While BSU will score the bigger problem for us will be holding Ohio under 40. The QB is a freshman not a redshirt and while 6'5" likes to run but has been fumbling recently in doing so. The line was supposed to be dominating on offense but has not been so against MAC west opponents. If they can control the line it will be a very high scoring game. BSU has good big receivers the key is if Neal gets time to throw. If we win it will be our biggest win in 2 years as I discount beating BG in last year's final when they had nothing to play for.

Nothing to see here....OUr program is just fine. No need for any changes.....sigh.

Great stat! That is truly amazing...goes right with 0-13 vs teams with over .500 MAC records since 2012.

You're right, another chance to turn the ship around Tuesday night.

It isn't just Ohio. Every MAC East team has struggled against teams from the West in recent years. All MAC East teams combined are 11-61 against teams from the West not named EMU since 2011. Only one team has one more than 1/5 of their games against the West not named EMU, and that is Kent, who is 4-7. Ohio's 1-8 record is about average. Even BG, who has won the East the last three years, is only 2-9 against them since 2011, including this year's win over WMU.

I've found it interesting that the West Division is stronger in football and the East Division is stronger in basketball. Of course there are some outliers, but it's quite a peculiar dynamic.

Indeed, it's a peculiar dynamic. Maybe BG belongs in the West and EMU in the East, and that would only make it more pronounced in both sports.

Jason's latest article on the injuries as L.C. mentions, if accurate, is quite concerning as the key D and key O players are effected, Vick & Poling as questionable.
I am now more concerned about our ability to get the needed W than I was a few days ago.
I would think that our game plan will be more run to keep their O off the field. We will need our run game to be as good as last week if we hope to get the W.
In addition we need to score turnovers, 2 or 3.

Did someone on here state rather authoritatively a few days ago that Poling was a go for this evening? Did he sustain another injury or aggravate his injury in practice? Or, is Solich just trying to keep BSU guessing? Does anyone know what's really up?

I'm guessing they both play, but it's probably a case where a tweak of an injury could occur pretty easily, forcing them out. But it just makes sense for them to try if they can as long as a serious injury isn't a possibility, with only two regular season games left. If they have to miss next week, that's unfortunate, but both should be much healthier by the time a potential bowl game comes around.

Just saw on USA Today that the spread has gone from 7 to 9. Interesting to say the least.

That's my expectation, too. I think they will both try to play. Given that it's Senior Day, I'd like to see Vick get the start, but then let Sprague play most of the game, if possible, so that Vick can rest for NIU next week. If Ohio can get a lead, I'd like to see Poling also get relieved for much of the game for the same reason.

Arkley had Poling listed as questionable last week. He certainly answered the question.

Poling was named Defensive Player of the week, yet again:

Also, I note that they are wearing all-black tonight. They didn't play well in all-black last time, so let's hope they are fired up to play tonight.

Sure, the last two games show 632 yards rushing, but, the QBs have been good for about 1/3d of that. Vs BG Sprague looked good, his wheels seemed just fine.

Oh. No need to remind me. I'll happily eat my words.

I totally underestimated how atrocious Ball State's defense was.

But we did run ball effectively, which was nice to see. And I'll say that was best game I've ever seen Sprague play. Didn't think he had it in him.

Defense banged up and it showed.

Bottom line, they did what they needed and should have done. 7 wins and guaranteed bowl. Nice work.

Now huge test at NIU next week. Great litmus test for this program
