For those who had forsaken Frank and the 'Cats this year! Shame on you!! Solich and the 'Cats have been nothing but class! Congrats to the Bobcats on an amazing victory against Northern Illinois!!!

Be careful calling this biggest MAC win ever for Cats. Some feel strongly that it's not.

I agree...I think it is.

13' pt underdogs on road vs team playing for 6th straight MAC West title that had been 22-0 in November since 2009 and 35-1 in last 36 home games.

Yup. Best MAC win of Solich era for sure for me.

For those who think that Frank should be fired, I suggest that they enroll at a University like LSU!! It seems that they might all share the same level of intellectual lunacy!!!

It is probably the biggest in FS tenure.

Better win than beating a 9-2(7-0) Temple team in 2009 to with the MAC East?

It's nor even a better win than when Ohio beat NIU 2009 that was a must-win game in order to play Temple for the MAC East title the following week.

If you can't think of a better MAC win you're not trying very hard.

Coach Solich's biggest win may have been his first win at Ohio coming against no less than Pitt and Dave Wannstadt, who had just come over from the NFL. There are so many other key wins including consecutive bowl game victories, but the Pitt game and the message it sent is hard to top.

Agreed.

But regardless, I give major props to Frank and his coaches for not "losing" this team. After three consecutive blowout losses and all those injuries, there was no way I'd have foreseen a 3-0 finish. I said Frank should retire. The way he kept this team together, and the way they won tonight, is very impressive. I'm happy to eat crow.

Kudos to FS and all the Bobcats. Great job, boys!

Not the biggest ever, but its the biggest in a couple years for this program. 8-4 season 5-3 MAC a good finish a lot better than 7-5 4-4.

The Temple and NIU wins were big. I agree with that, but those Ohio teams that won were really good teams...some of the best we've had at Ohio.

The 2015 Bobcats that rolled into DeKalb were not anywhere in same neighborhood. Considering the injuries and who they beat and the circumstances.....I think this is more impressive.

Not displaying significance of winning MAC East, but a 13' point underdog going into NIU and winning like that was not expected.

The wins over NIU & Temple in '09 were expected somewhat.

Werent major upsets like tonight

It wasn't 13, but we were a decided underdog against the owls in 2009.

Re: wins vs Temple '09-11

The '09 win (Ohio was 2-point underdogs) was the best of that bunch because it was basically the East Division title game...but it was at home and we were pretty damn good that year. Not to mention Temple was without Bernard Pierce that game (1300+ yds, 16 TDs that year)

The '10 win (Ohio was 10-point underdogs) was really good....on the road to put us in position to win the East. But, oops. We gagged the next week at Kent and blew a chance to win the East division.

The '11 win (Ohio was 4-point underdogs) was a really nice win too. But it was at home and Ohio was pretty damn good that year too....10 wins good.

That 21 point comeback in Oxford last year was nice finish to the season too. Best win of the season tonight definitely. Marshall was another good win. Blanking Kent State 27-0 and destroying Miami 34-3 on homecoming despite opponent records are results to be proud of.

This was my thought process as well. I'm not going to argue this was the biggest or best MAC win, but it was huge because we weren't really playing for much. We were playing for a win and a possibly a better bowl opportunity. No championship on the line for us, no bowl opportunity on the line, just playing for a big win and a chance to knock out the perennial MAC powerhouse...and we did it!!

Past teams would have quit 5 weeks ago, but this team came back after being knocked out of the MAC race and won 3 straight with last night being the icing on the cake. Great win and great way to finish out the season strong!! Lets get a big bowl win and go into the off-season with our confidence and energy levels elevated!!

It's really only a major upset because of what NIU has accomplished recently and what they were about to do (go to a 6th straight MAC title game). Other than that, this NIU team isn't nearly as great as the ones we've seen. It doesn't take away from the win at all, but I think I agree with perimeter that 2009 had better wins. Hell, I'll even say the 2006 win over NIU was better than this. That year jump-started this program.

I did think it was rather impressive that Ohio's 3rd string QB came in and played better than NIU's 3rd string QB. Just a weird game with injuries everywhere.

And I probably rip play calling more than anyone, but where was this gameplan against everyone else this year? The TD pass to Heitzman was perfect and it should have worked twice.

It's already been stated many a time, but the defense is a completely different team when Poling and Johnson are both healthy.

I'm on #Team2009VersusTempleWasBetter. Theo Scott had his best game as a 'Cat, and we totally dominated. I could be convinced that the original Blackout game vs. Temple in 2011 was better than last night too.

The reason is simple: both of those were essentially for the MAC East title. We were playing for a championship.

Last night was a good win, for sure. And 8-4 is a good season, for sure. But we were playing for pride last night, and nothing else. Playing for championships beats playing for pride.

The way they played last night, I think many considered this to be a MACCG equivalent.

Last season Ohio gave NIU a much better game than did BG in the MACCG.

This cannot be the best MAC win ever. This game was not for anything but breaking a losing streak to top tier MAC teams. This was not for the MAC East or the MAC. Nice win, glad to have it, but we are going way to far. We are supposed to win games like these. Go Cats
