I think it is possible that we have most everyone available tonight.

First off is Papi he is one of our top playmakers. Out since the Western Michigan game.

Blair Brown. This will be the first game all of our LB's are reasonably healthy since Idaho.

Basham, We need to rotate in on the DL against a good NIU OL.

Carpenter, he seems to come up with big plays and his on field leadership is invaluable

Vick, just in case Sprague is off or gets dinged.

It goes without saying our LB's are critical. Poling, Johnson and Brown are needed to contain NIU's running game.

8-4 sounds good to me.A win over NIU validates our season.

Go Bobcats!

I agree. It doesn't erase 62-24, 49-14 and 42-17 when we had a chance to compete for a division title.

It also doesn't erase 0-13 the last four years vs. MAC teams with above .500 marks in the league.

It would be a really, really nice win. Probably the best MAC win in Frank's tenure.

But just like Nebraska beating Michigan State this year...it doesn't validate the season.

Repeating this does not make it true. It'll be a very good win, but it will not be the best MAC win of his tenure as previously explained.

Ohio can win even if those guys aren't healthy and don't play. This was a game Ohio could have won last year too (lost 21-14). I think NIU is exactly the kind of team Ohio matches up with well.

Ok....so you're saying wins over a Temple program that has zero MAC titles is better than beating MAC powerhouse and the most dominant team in the league the past decade...

A team that has won 35 of 36 at home and has won 22 straight games in November.

OhioCatFan wrote:expand_more
There were three Temple wins of note, all in mid to late November:

2009 35-17 in Athens, Temple season record 9-4, 7-1

2010 31-23 in Philly, Temple season record 8-4, 5-3

2011: 35-31 in Athens, Temple season record 9-4, 5-3
This is your "previous explanation." You really think those are more impressive than beating a team ON THE ROAD that is on the verge of playing for a MACC for a 6th straight season.

I'm sorry....those wins over Temple from 09-11 were nice...really nice. But I don't think they are as impressive as beating NIU on the road in November when they are playing for a west division title.

The '09 win (Ohio was 2-point underdogs) was the best of that bunch because it was basically the East Division title game...but it was at home and we were pretty damn good that year. Not to mention Temple was without Bernard Pierce that game (1300+ yds, 16 TDs that year)

The '10 win (Ohio was 10-point underdogs) was really good....on the road to put us in position to win the East. But, oops. We gagged the next week at Kent and blew a chance to win the East division.

The '11 win (Ohio was 4-point underdogs) was a really nice win too. But it was at home and Ohio was pretty damn good that year too....10 wins good.

The '15 version of Ohio is not anywhere near as good as any of those three teams....all of which would've won East division titles had it not been for a turkey week gag at Kent.

The '15 team....at 7-4....with all the injuries....as 13.5 pt underdogs....to go on the road and beat NIU. I'm sorry. To me, that would be far more impressive.

The '09 Temple win is probably the biggest MAC win in Frank's tenure to this point....but I think a win tonight is better.

The '09-11 run we had should be the norm for Ohio. Either winning the MAC East or in the hunt until the very end. If we were still getting those kind of results today, I'm sure people would be much more happy with the state of our program.

But since 2012, we've not been anywhere near the hunt in November for a East title. That's regression. 6-8 in November since 2012. NIU is 22-0 in November since 2009. Big difference.

But go ahead and tell me that "repeating it doesn't make it true".....because your opinion is "true"?

You have your thoughts...I have mine.

I think we respectfully disagree....as previously explained.

No offense, but this is a silly argument. If Ohio wins, it will be a good win, and let the superlatives fall where they may.

+1 - Although, it will be great if we beat them by more than O$U did. Work will be more fun if they do...

Our history this year is that we need to force a few turnovers. When we do we have won.
Turnovers and few other breaks going our way will be very helpful to the outcome we all are looking for.

Was simply stating my opinion. Was challenged and told I was wrong.

I can handle someone disagreeing, but not telling me my opinion is wrong.

Opinions aren't wrong. That's why they are opinions

If somebody wants to call the suicide hotline because we didn't win the MAC, be my guest. 8-4 is a great year.

Way to go Bobcats! Strong win even with injuries at key positions and the lines both played very well. So should the coach be fired at 8-4???

Very good win, and even with a huge number of guys out. The only one on his list that played was Basham.

What a great win for Ohio Football ! We beat mighty Northern with our third string Q.B., and our running back corps down to 2 guys. Good for us, the back who was healthy was Oulette. What an effort by him, and our line . In fact, our line played great on both sides of the ball. Great coaching job by our staff. We would have put the game away earlier if the short pass into the right flat after the fake jet sweep the other way had been caught. Great call to go back to the play that produced a touchdown earlier in the game.
Bobcats are going bowling !!!

Don't look now, but that was Ohio's 3rd win this year over a team with a winning record.

And it appeared that Basham played one of his better games. Saw plenty of grit.

Can't be, Frank doesn't win the big ones. This team has given up!
I never bought into that. Cannot wait for our bowl game. 8-4 looks good. Close to what I was thinking before the season.

In my wildest dreams, I never saw this team at 8 - 4. Despite the mid-season wallopings and the injuries (or in spite of), this might be the biggest bunch of over achievers since the Bad News Bears. Congratulations, Bobcats. Upcoming is a bowl date that can truly be enjoyed. 100% earned and no failed expectations to overcome.
