I'd like to think he can do better than that. I know they're Big 12 or whatever but Toledo is a better job than ISU. And Toledo FB will likely usually be better than ISU (proven this year).

But can't blame him for getting the $$. Not one bit. So more power to him if he goes.

This makes me think of quite a few coaches(+assts) that have done well at Ohio only to go to the 'next level' of $$/conference, only to struggle. Just watched some of them get thumped by Tennessee just a bit ago. I can't help but wonder if ISU is a 'winnable' job or not.

These were my thoughts exactly when Danny went to Nebraska 30 years ago.

Good luck to him. That's a tough place to win. Several coaches have coached there and have lived to tell about it, moving on to other jobs, including Johnny Majors, Earl Bruce, and Gene Chizik.

LC basically said what I said when Kat told me he was getting courted by ISU while we were watching games today.

And in the spirit of 'tough place to win' I'll mention I learned Mark Dantonio's coaching career started at Ohio. Turning out decent for him I guess.

Iowa State job isn't as bad as it once was. They've built a nice fanbase there and play in the anything goes Big XII. I've heard Campbell talk on the radio and he sound like a bright yet very down to earth coach. Campbell makes a few bowls at Iowa State and he would be very attractive for elite jobs with his prime in front of him. He might be getting the 3 million to coach at Iowa State the Houston and Memphis coaches were offered.
