This link is legit, but the victim being LaVon is still speculation. A FAIRLY reliable source passed it on to me with info that this was indeed LB. Take it for what it is worth. None of this matters at this point. Just hope the young man recovers and gets well soon. Just sad!!!

Whether this kid was doing right or wrong, he needs support. I pray for Lavon and his family.

I've been off the board for about 48 hours and just logged in and saw this. This is horrible. Lavon was one of my favorite all-time OHIO football players. Not only did I like his work on the field, he was such a gentleman off the field. I still remember how kind he was to the young kids asking him for autographs after games. He took the time to talk to each kid and seemed to really enjoy being around children. I don't know what went wrong, but I'll pray for a recovery and for him to be able to turn his life around.

Of yes, I remember when Lavon gave the son of a cousin of mine a glove he had worn during a game. I bet that's still a cherished possession. He is such a good person that it is really sad what has happened to him in his post-college career.

Yep, this is terrible! That was the glove he wore the night he broke the schools receiving record. He signed it for him too!

Some good news as LaVon is showing signs of improvement. Thanks for the continued prayers he has a ways to go for recovery!

New report from the Post is LaVon was not shot and his condition was caused by something else.

Regardless of how this happened I do hope he continues to improve.

This is an incredibly strange story. Why would people close to LaVon state he'd been shot if that's not the case?

At first thoughts was a gunshot but appears to be severe head trauma of some sort by unknown assailants. Good news is he just typed that he is ok and thanking people for prayers while he is recovering at JFK hospital.

That is wonderful, that he is well enough to type. I wish for him a complete recovery.

+1 And, I'll add I hope for his eventual return to the NFL. I believe he has the talent to earn a starting spot on the right team. It appears he needs teammates and/or coaches who can give him proper guidance not just on development as a football player but on emotional and maturity issues as well. As I've said before, one of my all-time favorite Bobcats. He has a great heart and just needs the right environment, I believe, to put this dark period of his life behind him.
