It's pretty damn impressive what these two programs have done the last several years. Both teams have played in the MAC Championship each of the last 3 years. BG has won 2 of those 3, and NIU has been there 6 straight times and won 3 titles. BG hasn't lost to a MAC East opponent now in 4 years and has just lost their entire coaching staff again for the second time in two years. NIU continues to beat Toledo every year and their 6 straight wins over the Rockets coincides directly with why NIU lands in Detroit and UT does not. BG has had the easier path to get to Detroit playing in the MAC East but has dominated the East along the way and has beat the MAC West Champ 2 out of 3 times. NIU has had to battle through the tougher MAC West and has come out on top 6 straight times. Incredible. The MAC media day is held every year in Detroit with every team wanting to find itself there in December playing for the title. And for 3 straight years, both BG and NIU found a way and got it done, on the field, to get themselves back to Ford Field. It's not easy to get to Detroit, and it's even harder to win once there. Ohio should know. But I respect what these two programs have done and recognize how difficult it is to be able to lift that MAC Championship trophy when it's all said and done at the end. Well done.
