Everyone in the MAC was taken care of good this year. I was worried Toledo was going to get screwed with a FAU pairing in Boca. Akron is playing in Boise and for a team that draws 3,500 a game that is where they belong.

Two MAC bowl double headers. On Tuesday Dec 22 Akron vs. Utah State at 2:30 then Toledo vs. Temple at 6pm. On Wednesday Dec 23 NIU vs. Boise State at 3:30 then BG vs. Georgia Southern at 7pm. What great exposure for the conference. Then Bahamas and Hawaii bowls on Christmas Eve.

I have to tell you Wes, I like Ohio's time slot better. Not everyone is able to watch a weekday afternoon game as they're working but most everyone can watch a Saturday evening game.

This is roughly the same slot when we went to the Potato Bowl (late afternoon Saturday before Christmas), and it's a pretty good one. I remember we did some Christmas shopping and caught the game at BW3 afterward.

Oh I agree. On an individual basis the Saturday slot at 5:30pm is best. Its nice that the conference is able to grab a week of exposure with 6 bowls from December 19th through Christmas Eve. First bowls for ASU, Georgia Southern. The MAC playing Temple and Boise State. There are going to be fans tuning in for these games.

I like playing on the first day of bowl season when everyone is excited about watching bowls and isn't burned out by them yet.

I'll take an early stab at point spreads:
Bowling Green -10 vs. Georgia Southern
Western Michigan -4 vs. Middle Tennessee
Toledo -1 vs. Temple
Central Michigan -1 vs. Minnesota
Northern Illinois vs. Boise State -10
Ohio vs. Appalachian State -12
Akron vs. Utah State -14

My guess is the MAC wins about half these, not too bad.

If we are the team a lot of you on here make out that we are with the great staff that you keep reminding us about, then we go to Montgomery and kick Appy State's a$$! If we are the mediocre team the others believe we are, we get OUr a$$ handed to us. I am in the camp that this is the type of game we should win, no excuses and that opinion is not based on my faith in the program but rather my belief where we should be.

I think these are pretty good estimates, L.C. The only one I wonder about is NIU v. Boise. If they will still be relying on the third string QB, I think you've got it about right. If, however, that first or second string guy is available by the time the bowl game is played, I'd think the spread would be much closer. Does anyone know the status of these QBs for the bowl game?

Maybe Ohio will kick App. State's rear end. The last time Ohio faced a team appearing in its first ever FBS bowl Ohio won 45-14.

That win was over another Sun Belt school, ULM.

Bowling Green will be a big favorite. Western Michigan should be favored by a TD. Everyone else is going to be a slight underdog, I think.

I'll try and we'll see who does better
BG -10, we agree
Western -6, pretty close
Temple -4, pretty far off with the different team favored
Boise -5, but I think this depends on how healthy NIU can get
Minnesota -3, a different favorite again
Appy -6, pretty far off
Utah State -6, pretty far off again

Not sure why you think BG will be a big favorite over Georgia Southern. The one MAC team they played this year, WMU, they destroyed.

It's either going to be our 3rd-stringer (Graham) or the 5th-stringer (Fiedler). At this point it sounds like Graham "might" play. I think he's listed as Day-to-Day and for Carey, that might mean he's out for the year. In Carey's lexicon, day-to-day could mean anything. The starter, Hare, is still on crutches. He's out.

The initial spreads are out. Looks like Victory and I were about even in the "guess the spreads" game. One we agreed, and on two Vegas was halfway between us:
Ohio vs. Appalachian State me -12, Victory -6, Vegas -9
Toledo vs. Temple me Toledo -1, Victory Temple -4, Vegas Temple -1
Bowling Green -10 vs. Georgia Southern we agree, Vegas -8

On two I was closer:
Northern Illinois vs. Boise State me -10, Victory -5, Vegas -9
Western Michigan vs. Middle Tennessee me WMU -4, Victory WMU -6, Vegas WMU -3

and on two Victory was closer:
Akron vs. Utah State me -14, Victory -6, Vegas -6.5 )
Central Michigan vs. Minnesota me CMU -1, Victory Minn -3, Vegas Minn -6.5

Well, good luck to you. We're thinking our first and second stringers might both be available for the bowl, something that didn't happen very often this year, though the NIU game was the only one where Windham played for a major portion of the game.

Thanks. I think I mixed up which string was which. When I said second string, I guess I meant 3rd string, and when I said third string it looks like I was meaning fifth string. This gets confusing real quick! At any rate, my feelings are that NIU has a fighting chance with Graham and not so much with Fielder. So, here's hoping Graham is a go come game day.

I caught part of the ESPNU bowl show Sunday evening -- the one that wasn't exclusively for the playoff -- and thought the discussion about Akron was kind of funny. For all the other teams, they talked about players and coaching philosophy and how their season went. For Akron, they mentioned what a good job Bowden was doing and how Akron has a great stadium to play in. That was it. Not one thing about players. Even though ESPN didn't do any Akron games (except on ESPN3), you'd think they'd do enough homework to mention at least ONE player.
