The support is definitely there, whether it's donor or revenue based. They just built a brand new stadium, too. Guess they are kinda ticked off about all this Cincinnati and Memphis to the Big 12 talk.

The problem is that all they have done is match what a bigger school would offer as a starting salary. If he thinks he can do better elsewhere, he's gone.

Check out the assistant coach salaries on USA today. Staggering numbers. Other than having a contract (and the big boys already have that in many cases) and wanting to run the show yourself, not a lot of incentive to head coach a G-5 team if you're a P5 assistant.

[/QUOTE]I know that UC has spent a lot of coin on creating a similar effort. The Clifton/University Heights area surrounding campus has been a construction zone for what seems like the last 5 years. As a result there are a lot of shops and restaurants that are also commonly found in your more suburban business districts/malls. Certainly a lot of this has been privately funded but I think it is all part of a strategic plan to improve the perception of UC, and its surrounding neighborhoods to prospective families. There was an article in the Enquirer a few years ago talking about how they want there to be a safe, pleasant experience through the corridors for anyone coming to campus off of both I-71 and I-75, especially families who hail form more suburban and rural areas who don't want to go to school in "the ghetto." From just my casual observations I think they are making progress in that area.

Having spent a lot of time around the UC campus growing up it sure seems like more improvements have been made in the last 3-5 years than the previous 20-25.

Traffic and parking are going to be the next huge improvements they need to make up there. I live right down the hill in Northside and refuse to go pick up food in Clifton while school is in session. With the school and the increasing hospital population, Clifton is almost becoming the center of Cincinnati.
