App State better than I expected. Credit to them. That game was a war. Hope Basham is not badly hurt. Like you I am proud of them. Good game.

I wonder if the total of turnovers and penalties for each team was as close as the 2-pt margin...

For two seasons we've been wondering what Ohio's offense would look like if Papi White could stay healthy. Let's hope his Season 3 is his 'charm.'

It would be nice if White could give, say, 10 carries a game, catch 2 or 3 passes and give Ohio the speed of App's Cox.

I found it interesting how turnovers seemed to lead quickly to big plays - by each team.

Ohio played some manful D, but when a starter went out, even briefly, we saw a noticeable drop-off in defense effectiveness.

Basham might have played his best game.

For an instant I thought the game-winning FG would go wide left.

I wonder how many App supporters bet the spread and lost.

Better than you expected? They've won three national championships.

Cats played well. We lost by a field goal. Still proud of this group. Yes a few different calls and we win but have to respect how this team fought through adversity.

OCF is probably saying the kick and call was inconclusive from that angle.

No, I told my wife, even before the officials hands went up, that it looked good. Nice try, Alan, but you're wrong once again.

I was not going to come on and post so soon after a tough loss on your side, but I feel the need to state that I DO NOT support anything Todd has stated in this thread. I can't control him or any App fan, but I hate that he is acting this way on your board.

Good luck next year and for the rest of this year with Bobcat athletics.

While I don't think it was ASUTodd's brainiest move to come on our board right afterward, it was not our team's brainiest moment when they got extremely cocky at the end of the half and antagonized the ASU fans. Was it a big deal? no. Did it come back to bite them in the ass, hard, when the entire ASU team taunted them after the win? yeah. that stuff usually does. Some very costly and avoidable penalties by our defense today. Why can't we seem to figure out that taunting is going to get flagged? Every time? How do we not know that? And that late hit? we had them stopped and we deliver that stupid penalty. I know... they're football players, not scientists, and they're really amped up, but come on!

So have we. Nobody on this level cares much about your titles on lower levels. You might get a little rep on the G5 level but try selling your national titles to a P5 opponent.

Don't get me wrong. I picked ASU and they outplayed us. The better team won. But nothing changed my perception that the teams were close and that Ohio could have won with a couple of big plays or with a few breaks.

Youngstown State has four. I'd still expect to beat them in football.

Todd is a moron. On behalf of App nation, I hereby suggest we all ignore him.

Word has it, he's really a high school student. If you all are lucky, maybe he will not apply to Ohio U. once he gets his high school diploma. If App is lucky, maybe he will apply to Western Carolina.

That said, that was an incredible football game last night. The Bobcats played well. There were times that the Mountaineers played well. I have not seen an App game with that many momentum shifts.

I do wish the incident at halftime had not occurred, but it did. My seats were right there beside the band. Anytime a football team communicates with an opposing fan base, things will not go well. It did serve to pump up the App fans. Ohio would have been better served if the App fans were kept quiet. The likelihood of such incidents recurring would be less if each team could exit the field near its own fan-base. But, at the Crampton Bowl, there was only one exit ramp that both teams had to use to get to their locker rooms.

Anyway, the Ohio fans I met over the weekend were fine folks.

Don't worry about it. There is always one in every crowd. I can't say enough for the App State fans. We met a bunch of them over the weekend and they were all incredibly nice people. It made for a wonderful two days being at the events and meeting new people. Yes, we lost, but you win some, and you lose some. Regardless, it was a great time and the App fans we met helped make it so.

Does he have a brother on the Temple board?

I think there was a lot of emotion on both sides of the field last night. Jovan Johnson's throat slashing move can be attributed to emotion. And there were big emotional swings for both teams last night.

It was a fun game to watch, and both teams have positives to take into next year. Last year left our guys hungry, and I'm sure this year will too.

Have a great holiday season.

I got into Montgomery early on game day and to pass the time, walked around the city. I met any number of App State fans during my sojourn. Every one I met was a pleasure to meet and to talk to. I hope some time that I can plan a campus visit.

Classless, clueless, brainless, whatever.

No one with any sense should be disrespecting anyone when the job is only half done. I don't know what happened in the tunnel at half-time but the strutting and head nodding I saw on OUr sideline made me cringe. Nothing good ever comes of that crap.

My biggest and simultaneously most petty complaint about OUr team and coaching staff is that we show surprisingly little individual discipline and reserve when it is most needed.

One of the biggest turnoffs for me has to be all the chirping, standing over the opposing player and acting like you just freaking conquered the world after an big play or hard hit. Drives me crazy!! It wasn't just Ohio Saturday either. App State did their fair share as well. This has become so common place in today's game. Players show a totals lack of discipline . I was watching the Bengals game yesterday (Who-Dey) and on several occasions the players would make a big play, stand over the opposing player pounding their chest and taunting them. Then a couple plays later the player fumbles the ball and quietly sneaks to the sideline and hides on the bench. Pound your chest then big man! Another is when the player scores with 2 minutes to go in the game and starts dancing yet their team is still behind by 4 touchdowns!

Since I am venting let's talk about the off setting unsportsmanlike penalties. The players should both get warnings and then have to sit out the remainder of the series until there is a change of possession. If it was on 4th down then they sit out the next series.

The sad thing is the attitude has penetrated all the way down to high school and junior high and is pretty much unchecked by coaches and parents. I attended a high school game in Gallia county this past week and one of the kids on the team dropped the F-bomb on the court at least 2 times and not a word was said by the coach or the officials. I know they had to hear because we could hear it in the stands. Had any of my teammates or myself so much as mouthed the F-Bomb (played in the 80's) our parents would have beat the crap out of us when we got home. My mother is and continues to be a loving mother/grandmother that would do anything for her kids but she had zero tolerance for such behavior. I remember once time I told her how much I disliked one of my coaches. She went on to remind me that he was the coach and it was his way or the doorway and if she so much as saw me say one thing to him that was disrespectful that I would answer to her when I got home. Thank God I had her as a mother! I went on to have the same rules with my daughter who played high school sports. (I never beat her! Taking her cell phone and grounding her was far worse) If she didn't like the coach I told her not to play but if she played the coach was the coach and she was to do what she was told to do. Once the season started she was also NOT allowed to quit. She made a commitment to her coach and the team and she would see it through.

All the cockiness in football and basketball have actually been one of the reasons I have grown to love hockey so much. I know there is chirping on the ice that we don't hear but the players always come across as humble and just happy to be able to play the game. They celebrate with hugs and high fives following a goal or a win and that's pretty much it. If a player goes to far the gloves drop and the player is given a "slight attitude adjustment"! In fact my daughter and I are getting ready to head to Pittsburgh to see the Blue Jackets tonight! Go Jackets!

Galia is right here. This taunting thing is out of control and shows lack of disc. Sad thing is you see this in the NFL all the time and there are NO penalties unless it is really way out of hand. The practice then just filters down to the next levels.

The better team definitely won. I will go back to my earlier post that I thought sure I would get crucified for and yet not a peep. We should have gone for it or at least done a hard count to pull em off side or tried something "imaginative" rather than just lining up and kicking the FG to take a one point lead. I knew as soon as it was obvious they would get the ball back with plenty of time (1:50) they would win. They moved the ball at will on us pretty much all night. Even at 6-7 yards per play and only needing 40-50 yards you knew it was over! This is where I am shocked the coaches could not see the flow of the game was such that we might not stop them when it counted (and we didn't). Bottom line, man up and if we can't get a yard in that situation we don't deserve to win. We took the easy way out (FG) and it ended up costing us.
