The reason I posted is because I was so intrigued that we were mentioned in his future plans and a better option then going to Carolina. It was said in confidence by the reporter Ohio and when Solich retires. I watched the majority of the interview and the reporter knows Muschamp well from his stint in Florida and is still in touch with him. As for a connection I couldn't figure out the pipeline or prior coaching experience, but for Ohio University football to be specifically mentioned was very interesting and had me thinking, who would take our program over? I'm probably over analyzing a simple quote from a beat writer but someone was speaking about our program and it has me wondering if others think Athens as a resurrection for a coaching career like BoB Davie in New Mexico.
While it certainly could be such a program I wouldn't think we are typecast as such. Most Group of 5 programs I think are going to be led by up and comers or maybe has-been coaches looking to retread themselves to become attractive to Big 5 programs. You can also get coaches like Frank who maybe came into their role with plans for bigger and better and found happiness where they were at. If they run a clean program who recruits high character players who graduate and win (hopefully championships), I don't care where they come from.
