CMU got into a bowl with a 1.2 million dollar payout, we were much better than them. The MAC will get 18 million in total payout from the NCAA.

we don't deserve a huge payout. Our fans don't travel enough. If we want better bowls, we have to show up.

... and their fans got to see scenic downtown Detroit, and then, after the MAC redistributes the bowl payouts, all the MAC schools end up with the same money anyway. Who got hosed?

The school gets an individual payout for the game.

...and then, as I understand it, the school remits that payout to the conference, who then allocates an allotment to each bowl school to cover their costs, then divides anything that is left 13 ways. MAC schools that go to bowls usually about break even, or have a slight loss.

It does help Ohio, though, that CMU went to a high payout bowl. Maybe they can break even.

The conference gets their own payout and the school gets their own. It s no way NIU makes it to a BCS Bowl and then equally distributes it throughout the MAC.

You really have NO CLUE, the school gets a payout from tickets sold, the leagues get the rest and that is redistributed to all members.

Could be that since Ohio had already played Minnesota that nobody wanted to see a rematch.

That's not what your mother said and she raised you. BTW, still waiting on the proof of the 51 sanctions, you can look it up after you finish washing the DB coaches car.
Read this article teams do get an individual payout. BTC, you need to shut the heck up when grown folks are talking. http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/blog/2014/12/heres-...

LC, I believe you may right even though this article says each team gets an individual payout, it may depend on the conference. http://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/data-mine/2014/12/23/the...
This article indicates UC gets an individual payout.

The individual payout is based on tickets the school sells. This is well documented.

Not 100% sure but in this situation I think it would be distributed more widely than the MAC even. Amongst the non-P5 would be the split, as I understood it.

But I also know the MAC has said more recently that they don't spread it evenly, they try to make each school whole for their trip, or close to it. And along with that schools who don't bowl (EMU) wouldn't get a split at all since they don't deserve a share for sucking every year.

Why do you reply to this guy? Lately his posts have been of the type:

I am proud of the players every year, I want what they want and that is to win a MAC, you really need to be real. You are not honest with yourself or you are immature. FS wants to be better than 8-5, We can beat everybody on our schedule. I want these young men to do something special and be celebrated for decades. I have no idea what you want. I don't just post the negative, I post the truth. If you can't handle the truth then you should go to a peewee league board where they hand out participation trophies.

So he accuses someone above of not being honest.
Claims they are "immature".
Claims (falsely) to post the truth (much is opinion or conjecture)
Then concludes by telling them to go to a "peewee" board. How grown up!!

That kind of post certainly suggests that of someone who is in fact immature.

I'd still love to see an IGNORE button so certain posters could be ignored. But easier is to just not reply to such drivel.

I just got an email from one of the administrators telling me not to make personal insult, I respect them and this site, it has to go both ways. If you don't want to be insulted, don't insult me.

allen, you missed this sentence in the UC article:
bizjournal wrote:expand_more
...When teams get their payouts from bowls, they put it into a pool by conference, which is divvied up among its members....

Technically the schools get an individual payout, but in practice, they really don't because they turn around and give it to the conference, who then re-distributes it across the entire conference. If it weren't for this all the MAC teams would have wanted the Quick Lane bowl, but because of this, none particularly wanted it.
