Josh Cribbs dominated in a came back victory for KSU at Peden. His performance in that game was amazing. It was like watching one great player vs eleven decent players and the eleven had no answers for the one. I do not recall ever witnessing one FB player take over a game the way he did.

Watching the Packers tonight, I'm reminded of when James Starks ran all over us in the ice rain on a piss ass weeknight in front of maybe 5,000 of us.

Jason Babin stands out from Western Michigan in 2003. I can't remember what all he did in that game, but I remember him dominating and the Broncos won. He peaked in the NFL with the Eagles in 2011 when he had 18 sacks and was a second-team All-Pro. He also was two-time MAC Defensive Player of the Year and was a first-round draft pick. I think some of the other guys mentioned were better, but he ranks up there.

Babin was a force. He's what an All-MAC player looks like. We haven't seen anyone close to his destructive talent on the d-line for decades.

I realize that he was rather exceptional. But I can't recall any 'wow, that guy makes plays' guys on our d-line at all.

And, d-line's pretty much the most important position on the team.

I would argue Landon Cohen did about as much as you can ask of defensive tackle... when he wasn't jumping offsides.

2003 Babin had 15 sacks and 115 ttl tkls. Other DE, Gitler, had 7 sacks and 88 ttl tkls. Other backup DEs accounted for 86 more tackles. Western was 5-7 that season vs Ohio at 2-8. Just seems like 289 ttl tkls from DEs is a big number. 2015 Ohio stats reflect 158 ttl tkls from DEs. What were they doing at Western in 2003?

His offside penalties were key in our home loss on national TV to a ranked Toledo team. When he was good he was very, very good, but when he was bad he was horrid!

For a school with little successful football history on the field, they have produced a lot of notable individual players and coaches. I'd put their alumni list who went on to the NFL against most schools in the MAC.

I'm sure that's true. The only higher ranking football player I can think of would have been Gerald Ford, but I'm sure he would never have played in Peden.

I was going to mention/nominate LT Eric Fisher out of Central Michigan, 1st pick of the 2013 NFL draft, but looking at CMU's schedules it appears that he never played at Peden Stadium.

Two of Lambert's teammates at Kent were Nick Saban (HC Alabama) and Gary Pinkel (HC Missouri). Their HC at Kent was Don James. I believe they all played in Peden at one time or another. As for Holtz, Kent played at Peden in 1957 and 1959. The 1958 game was played at Kent.

Some years ago I was talking with former Bobcat QB/TE Rick Lilienthal, and he said that blocking Lambert was like trying to block a spider. He was all arms and legs, and you just couldn't square up on him.

Nick Saban also coached in Peden. In 1990, his only year as HC at Toledo.

I've personally never seen a single player so dominate a game/team as Roethlisberger did OU at Peden in ????? He did everything and anything he wanted to do.

Watching the Marshall O-line carry Byron Leftwich to the huddle is one of my favorite sports memories PERIOD and it proved how dominating he could be.

Still, I think CMU's LeFevre (sp?) did almost as much damage to us as either of those two guys. He's not even going to make honorable all time All-MAC team but he was a one man Chippewa wrecking crew.
