Marshall.

No one in the MAC other than Miami matters more than the others.

I feel like we have this discussion constantly. It's Miami and Marshall.

I cannot believe I'm typing this but... I...miss...Temple...

It was fun to play them.

If we played Toledo and N. Illinois on a yearly basis, those would be more exciting.

Agree 100%, I miss Temple a lot. That very quickly turned into a pretty heated rivalry game.

Right now it is Marshall and Miami. That is it.

Voted EMU for the lulz

Maybe I will create some fake accounts to give EMU a runaway victory. I bet I can create more fake accounts in one hour than EMU has fans at their next home men's basketball game.

I thought it was pretty obvious by the schools listed to choose from, but I was just trying to find out what other current MAC schools people look forward to playing.

Well I hope our teams don't have that same outlook. But if they do, I guess that would explain why Ohio hasn't won a MAC championship since 1968.

I'm well aware of what you were asking. I would have voted for a "none" if that had been an option. The two opponents I found most interesting in the MAC are both gone. The remaining MAC is of no interest to me beyond the fact that they are our path to a championship.

I don't believe the MAC has handled realignment well, at all.

I don't think that explains it at all.

I put NIU. They are the Boise State of the MAC with six straight division titles. A name big enough that fans would recognize as a big name on the schedule. CMU and WMU usually have better athletes than we do so games against them is a barometer. Toledo doesn't feel like we are in the same conference with the long gaps from playing. It doesn't seem right to be on the field together at the same time.

100% Agree with Marshall. If they are on the home schedule, it is the first home game I circle on the calendar as "can't miss" along with the Homecoming game.

However, if we're talking only within the MAC, I give fairly equal weight to BGSU as I do Miami. I think it's safe to say we all have a number of folks we know personally that went to BGSU, which adds to it. More importantly, they've consistently become the team Ohio has to go through to win the MAC East.

I've said it before, but my feeling is that the Miami rivalry has lost luster, simply because their football and basketball teams have been bad for awhile.

True in my case. I have a very good friend who is a graduate of BUGS, in fact, he was the editor of the BG News. When we lose to BG I get a year of razzing from him, which means recently I've been razzed a lot. I'd much rather be the razzer then the razzee. ;-)

Anyone in the MAC East. Love beating Akron and Kent. Then it would be the MAC West leaders. Marshall isn't in the MAC anymore, so they do not matter much. A win against them doesn't take us to a MAC title game. When Temple was in our conference, it was them.

Curious to hear from those voting Zippy, specific to football, what factors make them OUr biggest rival from your perspective?

I put Akron due to I go to that game every year when we play there. Their fans always feel that this is the year the kill us, then they don't. I really rank the east in order victories I enjoy the best: Miami, BG (always good), Buffalo, Kent and Akron. We win the east, we go to the title. Temple used to be ahead of BG, always a good game. Never got a feel for UMASS.

Fair enough. I've never made it up to the fancy Akron debt load called Infocision Stadium. I'm told the facility is brilliant. Their football is improving slowly, so I can see the approach. It would actually be a good fall weekend road trip too.

It really is a nice stadium. Very nice in fact. Best in the MAC. But it's still on Akron's campus so that hurts it more than it helps it. But yeah, you should take a trip next time Ohio is there. You'll also be assured an OU victory too.

Very fun game, easy trip and actually their fans were nice. I missed getting tickets one year and called Akron to get them. They offered and gave me a tour when I got there, very nice staff. A cop even gave me a solo cup for my beer once. You should go up.
