18, Walker, R. is no longer on the roster.

But unfortunately I plan to transfer after this spring semester

I hope I am wrong, but, these dots seem to connect.

#18, best wishes and God bless going to your next station.

I wish him well. He will be missed - he played in 10 games in 2014, and started two. I believe he redshirted in 2015, though. I was looking for a strong year from him in 2016.

A lot of young talent and depth at the receiver position. I believe he only had 8 catches for 69 yards this year. Papi White and Kyle Belack should be able to fill the slot position. Wish him well wherever he ends up.

Loved his speed. Was surprised he didn't get more touches.

Oh, Mike, you know he hadn't impressed the coaches with his blocking and mastery of the playbook and maturity.

+1

End of season stats, nine WR (incl White) caught passes. Dixon & Sawyer (six total catches) graduate. Walker & Brunis (fifteen total catches) transfer. Smith, Reid, Cope and White are all probably begging for more snaps, less rotation. Ball & Belack are coming out of red shirts. Seymour and Odom are early enrollees. Harris reports in the fall. 21 catches lost to graduation/transfer with a wealth of young talent in the wings.

Did Brunis transfer too? Or do you mean Cedric Brown?

Depleted receiving corps. Bruins and Walker I believe.

Brown too. I used the season stat sheet as a basis for discussion and #11 had no catches this season. Brunis, Walker and Brown, some good talent there. I hope they do well where ever they land, though, I am highly optimistic for the remaining WRs.

I missed that on Brunis, but I see he's not on the current roster. I wonder if that's injury related or a transfer. He was getting good reps before he was hurt last year.

Seemed like a very talented guy who couldn't get enough touches. Wish him well, and I think he will do well someplace. After saying that, wide receiver depth is the absolute least of my concerns. We have a load of good ones, based on last year stats and a look at the ones coming on board.

I wonder if this will be an up, down or sideways transfer. It seems a lot of times these lack-of-playing-time transfers are to smaller schools where the player can be a real standout star. These guys would rather be a big fish in a small pond. I do wish him well in his future endeavors, unless, of course, he would transfer to that school in Oxford.

Agree there is talent at WR....but it call comes down to who's throwing it to them. If the QB isn't worth a damn, having good WRs doesn't mean much. Someone needs to emerge at QB and lead this offense.

Based on the number of recruits, I would guess that these were anticipated changes, and probably were accounted for in some of the late additions to the class.

Something I would have liked would have been Cedric Brown at safety and Herman Brunis at DB. Some players like Hardy, Ouellette and Grilliot change position to either see the field and/or help the team. I wonder if they considered this? If I am way off base direct me to my corner and I will work on my taxes.

Yeah, I think our best athletes are probably at the WR position, and it's a shame some of those guys can't showcase their talents. But I wonder if the emphasis on the Cover 4 might prevent some of those position switches. There's a lot of technique to be taught in an offseason, and we saw how much our full-time DBs struggled with it two years ago.

I was looking at the roster today and as I recall, there were 13 WRs on it. That seemed way high to me. You say 9 guys caught passes this year. At 2 recruits per year , I could see 8-10 but 13 seems high? And, I can see why some would transfer.

I hope it freed up some space for more OL guys. There I can see at least 13-16.

Once again, I agree, Casper. WR numbers have been on the high side, and OL numbers have been low. There have been at least two years where there weren't even ten healthy offensive linemen in Spring camp, making a full Spring game impossible, even if they actually wanted one. I think the numbers after this recruiting class are now more in line.

I guess it's sort of understandable to see transfers at the WR position with large number of receivers on the roster as you mentioned. Especially guys like Cedric brown who have not seen the field. Also, the fact that we return the top 3 receivers, and the new crop of young talent (Ball, Belack, Harris, Odom etc.)

If he were eligible, he would be better off transferring to a top flight JUCO. He could play right away and end up at a high major. If he transfers elsewhere BCS wise, he will have to sit out a year. We had a kid do this in the past Horace Hubbard and he ended up at Oklahoma State University. Walker was a much better player at Ohio. God bless you and have a great career elsewhere.
