If you watched the press conference or signing day event online tonight, Solich made reference to a transfer QB that is close to committing. Anyone with better overall CFB knowledge know who that might be? Any Power 5 kids that might be looking to get more playing time closer to home??

And no off-the-wall comments about Joey Burrow...that's not happening. At least yet!

Why not Burrow? Urban Meyer just said he signed the best QB he has ever seen.

I have no proof of this but . I've looked over the offers of qbs over the past couple years on ESPN . We offered qb Anthony Jennings apparently of LSU . The interesting thing about him is he tweeted something along the lines about how people don't even really know who is transferring yet . Then he quickly deleted it of course . I really doubt it's this guy . But just thought the timing was interesting and also he fits the hasn't announced transfer part ....

James Walsh of Dublin Coffman/Boston College was mentioned on the recruiting page. Apparently he originally was going to come to Ohio, then at the last minute signed a LOI with Boston College. He went there but left the program in 2014. I could not find him after that.

Yeah that sounds like someone Ohio should definitely go after.

He's not a good passer:

http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/_/id/546033/an...

And he was accused of burglary:

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/13355756/l...

Any guy can redeem himself, but he looks like a project at best. I realize SEC defenses are tougher to throw against, but he also had NFL caliber receivers, RBs and OL to work with. Thanks, but no thanks.

No he said "the fundamentals that Dwayne Haskins possesses right now are as good as I've ever seen in a young quarterback." Big difference and we wonder how rumors get started on the internet.

Al, some on here are just hoping the young man fails. Sad.

I posted more details on the recruiting page thread. Walsh quite football in August 2014. He walked on to the baseball team in the spring of 15 and did not play. I'm not sure if he's still at the school but he is not on the baseball roster anymore. There is a student at the school with his name, class of 2017 and college, but he has a common name and college, so it could be someone else.

What is also sad is that if he transfers from OSU - many locals will interpret that as "falling" - that would be a sad and wrong interpretation and VERY unfair to the young man. He needs to be where he is happy, not where his fans want him to achieve success.

I want burrow to do great, I am just telling you what I read. Here is the video. At his age Haskins is the best QB he has ever seen. Burrow beat out the Florida guy to be the third string QB last year, so it is obvious that he is a tremendous talent. If he wants to play right away, Ohio is his best option. http://on.aol.com/video/urban-meyer-dwayne-haskins-best-q...

I disagree that Burrow is likely to transfer. He should be #2 on osu's depth chart next year as a redshirt freshman, meaning he's a sprained ankle/bruised shoulder/whatever away from starting in 2016, and should enter 2017 as the starter.

He won't have a chance to even play, let alone start, at Ohio until 2017.

I will agree with this statement, and right now the kid is happy and he is competing against some of the top quality talent in the nation. He enters the Spring as a #2 QB. He's also never expected to play right away, which is something some just can't grasp. At the end of the day he will do what is right for him, he's got character and drive to be the best he can be.

Also, we know that our staff could well move him down our depth chart since we have guys here before him. He'd have to wait his turn in line.

How are peoples feeling about no qb recruit, about going into next year with the same guys on the roster? More so, given that none of them could beat out Vick or Sprague.

I have a number of opinions regarding that. Either there's something outstanding about one of the returning QBs that we the fans haven't seen, or our staff can't convince anyone to come play QB. The opportunity to start as a freshman (or at least as a soph) was a real possibility for the right guy. The need for adding more than one QB, and trying to get better at the QB position, in my opinion anyway, was glaring and obvious.

I'll wait to reserve too much judgement until games are played, however the fact that they didn't bring in a couple QBs is pretty troubling to me. It signals to me that I shouldn't go into next year or the following year with expectations for a season better than the last couple.

I have no idea how Krizancic will turn out as a QB or if he will ever even see the field, but he was ineligible due to transferring last year so that is at least one new QB to the active roster who didn't have a chance to beat out Vick or Sprague last year.

Right, plus Maxwell was a true freshman who was redshirting, so he probably didn't really get a chance to beat them out either.

Someone asked Arkley about Beau Hoge of BYU. Arkley said "nothing concrete" which at the same time makes me think he has heard SOMETHING about that...

https://twitter.com/JasonAmessenger/status/69538724763432...

This is our mystery potential transfer?

Some seem to believe Beau Hoge from BYU is the QB we are after. Caught this from someone else tweeting Arkley and then found this message board. Hardly concrete but perhaps where there is smoke....

http://247sports.com/player/beau-hoge-38147

He was a low three-star QB out of high school. 247Sports actually rated him high 2 stars (79). He didn't have many offers. It's noted in his BYU profile that he was recruited by Ohio, Miami and Cincinnati. He saw a bit of action as a backup this past year as a freshman, most of it in a 70-7 blowout of Wagner. He also was forced into action in a close game against East Carolina and threw a pick that set up tying field goal before starter Tanner Mangum returned to lead the winning drive. But he was the backup as a true freshman (Would have been third string if not for the injury to Taysom Hill in the first game). Was 10-17 for 137 yards with 1 INT and rushed 16 times for 49 yards and TDs.

Correct me if I am wrong, but we can't really "go after" anyone on another team's roster unless they express interest in transferring, right? That said, the BYU HC has left for Va Tech which may be a motivating factor.
