I wonder when the Ducks play Oregon State if he is just going to call them Oregon.

While he did call Ohio State "Ohio," so do most Ohio State people themselves. SMH

While some still do, I would say it's no longer most. I have lots of friends in Columbus, and over the last decade I've seen a big change in this nomenclature. I think a big reason for it is ESPN, which routinely calls us OHIO these days.

After hearing Hoke explain on Sirius radio that he started calling Ohio State "Ohio" when he was 10 years old and he wasn't going to change, I have no respect for the man.

I was referring to the OSU fans during games with their "OHIO" cheers and chants as well as the cheerleader flags, etc. if someone didn't know any better and attended a game in Columbus you'd swear they were the Ohio Buckeyes as State it omitted from many of the things it should be included in. I struggle to think of another state where the state name (i.e. Ohio) and the actually word "State" that follows a state name (i.e. Ohio State) is just referred to as the same as Ohio does for Ohio State. It's beyond ridiculous and it's like Ohio (Ohio University) doesn't even exist. Stupid!

OKay. I understand your point and I agree with it. I notice recently on an ESPN broadcast of an OSU game -- might have been their bowl game -- that they focused their camera on the drum that said "State" and not the one that said "Ohio." I believe that at one time both drums just said "Ohio." At any rate, I think ESPN was making a statement with that fifteen second shot. Too bad the point was probably missed by many. The only thing that I'm aware of that's anywhere close to OSU's attempt to expropriate "Ohio" is the University of North Carolina's use of the word "Carolina." Some folks in South Carolina aren't happy with that, and I've seen recent vintage USC (South) football jerseys with "Carolina" blazoned across the front.

I read somewhere that he hasn't been a defensive coordinator since like 1982 and that was a high school position. Good job, Oregon.

Guess it depends on your basis for comparison. If Don Pellum is your base a lot of people would be an upgrade.
