Just curious which non conference game everyone is looking forward to the most for whatever reason, whether it be the opponent, the location, the date, etc.

I usually look forward to the first home game of the year quite a bit, because it's usually a night game. For that reason, I'm excited about the Texas State game. My wife's best friend is also a grad of the Bobcats that will be wearing burgundy colors, and she'll be joining us, so that adds to it.

If it fits the schedule and the pocketbook, going to Knoxville would be tops on this list as well. I've been in Neyland once, and would like to see a game there regardless of opponent.

Tennessee!

I'm actually most nervous for the Kansas game, it's one I feel like we can and should win.

Tennessee, rpi of 9, picked 2nd in the SEC with 10+ wins. If we could hold them under 35 I would consider that a major success. The only way to advance the program is to occassionally play top 25 teams even if we lose.

My problem would be, if I'm going to drive out to Lawrence, it's pretty much a must that I'm going to get to see a game at The Phog.

Texas State for me.

It will be nice to start the season at home against a less formidable opponent to iron out some wrinkles. If we are able to get a good win by a comfortable margin it will help gain a head of steam going out to Kansas.

The Tennessee game is the only one where I do not have a comfortable confidence in our ability to get a win.

Now for a subtopic..........

Kansas plays Rhode Island at home before squaring off against us. Rhode Island is neither a rhode nor an island...tawk among yourselves..

Tennessee. Mainly for the pre and post-game fun. (If they really are a top 10 team, they are gonna beat us up pretty good.)

I think the Tex St game will be the first time the Bobcats face Bobcats in football.

It may not be a rhode or an island but it is a plantation. The official full name of the state is: "State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations." For those of you offended by the inclusion of the word "plantation" in the name, you'll probably just have to continue to be upset. No "safe space" for you! ;-) Changing the name and taking this word out of the state name was put to a vote earlier in this present century and nearly 80 percent of Ocean Staters voted for the status quo.

I had a feeling a handful of my fellow BA's would be able to provide a history lesson on the name. = )

Madison Square Garden is not on Madison Ave., not in the shape of a square, and is not a garden.

[Keeping this about Athens] Lakeview Apartments are not near a lake, and they don't offer a view.

True but the original garden was on Madison Square. This one is the fourth iteration.

I am shocked more have not chosen the GW game. After all, a serious top 300 FCS/D-IAA program who I am sure will bring dozens of fans. I am surprised that the major networks are not in a bidding war over the broadcast rights to this game. Who knows, they might put it on the "Ocho", that's right, ESPN 8, provide there is no dodgeball tourney at that time.

Ah, but there was a lake situated where the intermural fields now sit. So the name did have meaning for a while. All part of the Red Room lore.

Really? I sincerely didn't know that. I always wondered why the name. Was this lake before the reroute of the river?

That's a bold strategy Cotton let's see if it pays off for em.

I hope this non-con is a 3-1 affair. That would be great.

Beating Tex State, G-Webb and Kansas would be "great."

We have different standards. If we don't win those three there ought to be an investigation.

Then you were never in Rhode Island when the name change idea was on the ballot. There were some hot tempers over it, especially, as you might expect in college precincts. I remember walking into an ice cream parlor and having the proprietor nearly rip my head off for not agreeing that the name of the state was offensive and conjured up images of white supremacy. I actually understood his historical perspective but arrived at a different conclusion. Such divergence of opinion was not welcome in those rarified environs. Thankfully the rest of the state was more sanguine.

Hey rice paddy grunt, to call that a lake would be a bit of an exaggeration on par with a Tom Boeh crowd estimate (right Alan?). I might go with the word pond. I guess the name Pond View just didn't have a good ring to it! ;-)
