If the Belichek news from UNC teaches us anything, it's that college football and pro football now have blurred the lines between each other more than ever.

Subject line says it all. End the mediocrity. Stay relevent. Raise the visibility. You know his history, you know his pedigree, you know his origins.

Here we go:

"What makes you think he would even consider Ohio?"
"We could never afford him."
"We couldn't pay his Assistants"
"Why would he ever come to Athens, Ohio?"
"He would never coach in the MAC"
"Bobcat LOVE doesn't know what he's talking about"
"We like playing on Tuesday nights in front of 3,100"
"We are comfortable with a low profile"

I can't wait to hear all the mediocrity come flooding my way. I went by the Bunch of Grapes Tavern site (now The Exchange Buliding) last night in Boston. 100% factual and true - Because I'm a real one. If Putnam, Cutler, Tupper, and Parsons knew the staid mediocrity and flaccid expectations from this fan base - all 4 would probably have stayed back in Boston and not gone through the trouble of founding Ohio University.

It can't hurt to talk. Due dilligence.

Since Marty Schottenheimer is dead, sounds like a good idea.

You took our legs out from under us by shooting yourself down, but I'll bite. Belichick to UNC is indeed wild, but they are giving him 10 million dollars per year. TEN.

Oh yeah. This is a guy who would fit in great in the Ohio University and Athens communities, as a leader of young people and an example for them, and as the highest-paid university employee.

What Did Jon Gruden Say? Raiders Coach Resigns Over Offensive Emails

Gruden's resignation came after The New York Times reported on offensive emails he sent Bruce Allen, the former president of the Washington Football Team, during his time as an ESPN analyst.

The report found that the coach often used derogatory misogynistic and homophobic language.

The situation escalated on Friday when the Wall Street Journal reported that Gruden used racist language to describe NFL union chief DeMaurice Smith in a 2011 email to former Washington executive Bruce Allen.

A workplace misconduct investigation into the Washington Football Team is what led to the discovery of the offensive emails.

Some of the harmful content in the emails written by Gruden include him calling NFL commissioner Roger Goodell a "f*****" and also a "clueless anti-football pussy."

It is reported that he used that same homophobic slur several times when referring to Goodell.

In another email, Gruden referred to the openly gay Michael Sam as "a queer."

He also used a racist term to describe NFL union chief DeMaurice Smith in a 2011 email to former Washington executive Bruce Allen.

One email saw Gruden refer to then Vice-President Joe Biden as a "nervous clueless pussy" while exchanging photos of topless women.

He also criticized player Eric Reid for taking a knee during the national anthem and said he should be fired for doing so.

I was being completely serious. I think Rick Pitino is the right choice to be our next football coach. Ted Lasso type thing. What's the best Italian restaurant in Athens? Can we send some prostitutes there and convince him to visit?

Gruden's NFL career coaching record is 122-116, a .512 winning percentage. Is this not a mediocre record?

The most successful years of Gruden's career came in his long ago first five seasons, 1998-2002. After that initial success, his career went downhill with, at best, mediocre results and a sub .500 record. In his final 10 NFL seasons (2003-2008 and 2018-2021), Gruden's teams compiled a 67-84 record (.444). Why would anybody want to hire him?

Gruden? Please... child's play. Harkens to a toddler yelling out for attention. Why not Cowher? or the Ole Ball Coach Steve Spurrier? No... if we are going to swing, let's swing for the fences. Hear me out....go out and hire Joe Burrow. Yes, that Joe Burrow.

The suggestion says it all -- End the mediocrity. Stay relevent. Raise the visibility. You know his history, you know his pedigree, you know his origins. My God - you know his origins. I can't wait to hear all the mediocrity and naysayers come flooding my way. But read the leaves.

The recent situation has him acknowledging he hates the lack of privacy that his current life has. His team is mediocre at best and he's getting killed by his lack of line. And he's about to lose his two best receivers. He's made a boatload of money. Bring him home. I'm sure his dad would return as DC. He could live his life on the Plains without the press on his front lawn. His Instagram model/girlfriend can pop out kids as he pops our MAC Championships.

It can't hurt to talk. Due diligence. Anything less would be breach of fiduciary responsibility. Say it with me...Joe Burrow.

Bobcat Love actually suggested Ohio hire Rick Pitino in basketball a while back, so I'm glad to see this come full circle.

It was such a terrible idea when he went to Iona and subsequently won TWO MAAC Titles in THREE years at a Mid-Major.....you idiots. We should have hired him. God knows we would have been somewhat relevent for a while. You people never suprise me. Keep making my points for me.

Gruden - From Ohio. Played at Dayton. Went to Muskingum for a bit. Won an AFC Championship and a SUPER BOWL...but yeah, he's a bad coach.

Keep going Morons.

Can I ask a relevant question and hopefully get a well-thought answer?

How does he recruit and how do kids relate to him? Do they even know who Gruden is and when he won a Super Bowl? Bill Belichick has a leg up on him in that department and the last splashy NFL coaching hire before him (Herm Edwards) was a complete disaster at Arizona State. I don't hate the idea of mixing things up and possibly going in a completely different direction, I just think he brings up more questions than answers.
