They may be taking on 6'7", 309-lb Logan Tuley-Tillman, who was kicked off the Wolverines after being charged with three counts of filming sex with a woman without her consent (a felony). He pled guilty to lesser charges in March and was put on two years probation. Says he wants to transfer to Akron as a grad student, which means he could play right away. A three-star Hoke recruit who played one game before being dismissed. Sounds like it's not yet a done deal. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/dismissed...

After Baylor and other scandals, gotta wonder why Akron would take someone with this kind of baggage.

This stinks. Sorry, but, it would be OK with me not to play Akron this year. Seems to me the NCAA should have a code of conduct on what is unbecoming a student athlete. I would expect the above would be conduct worthy of a Dishonorable Discharge from NCAA athletics.

Since we play them as our last game this year maybe this guy will end up being kicked off for some reason or another before the finale. Hopefully Akron decides the risk is not worth reward.

I'm all for second chances in most cases but you have to draw the line somewhere.

Mike Hinton anyone?

From what I know, Mike Hinton's problems were of an entirely different nature. I never heard that he was involved in anything this seamy. I could be wrong, and if so, I'm sure you'll let us know. I heard that his major issue was "anger management" and also that he routinely failed certain "medical tests."

I agree that we need to be careful to avoid throwing stones. He wasn't convicted of a felony, though one was alleged. That is very similar to the Hinton situation. Is a violent felony better or worse than a sex related one?

Thankfully, Ohio has moved beyond taking the likes of this player. I guess an interesting poll might be if people would favor taking players like this if it would get a Mac championship.

Without doing any research, was it the sex that was non-consensual or just the filming of it. Not condoning either, but still a pretty important distinction.

Having worked through two careers, each which made it my responsibility to conform my behavior to a Code of Conduct, I am disappointed the above behavior does not disqualify an athlete from NCAA competition.

As I pointed out above, while he was charged with a Felony, he was not convicted of one. Instead he pled guilty to lesser charges. I think it is a general, though probably unwritten rule, that if you are convicted of a Felony, you are out, while if you are guilty of a Misdemeanor, you may be given a second chance.

Here's an idea: put the responsibility on the school of whether to allow him to keep playing. If my university is letting guys like that on the team, then that's an issue I have with the school. Be better than that. Don't dip to others' level.
