I've videos of The 110's first two Macy's performances. The second in particular was spectacular.

It was definitely one of my most memorable experiences at Ohio. Marching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade as the lead band was awesome. It is quite a production! Every group had to rehearse in front of Macy's several hours before the parade, and the 110 had to do their rehearsal at 1:30 in the morning. We marched on adrenaline and excitement.

You can go this year if you want, Al, but the 110 won't be there until 2017.

From those of you who have traveled to NY for this is in the past, any tips for a parade newbie?

I've been to NYC around Christmas before and I know it's expensive, crowded and hectic. (Yeah, so what else is new?) Any tour packages, hosting services, etc you may have run across for this event?

It's Friday Bob - thanks. I was already booking hotel rooms for this year which by the way were pretty reasonable at $225 a night. :)

The first time the 110 was in the parade they did a Varsity Show in the City on Saturday night.

Problem was,the venue was kinda of out of the way (Symphony Space) it really wasn't promoted much and the venue was't the best.

Depending on where they stay, one year it was Newark, they really should consider doing a Varsity Show out here for the NY/NJ alums.

There are several venues in N.J. that should be able to accomidate the show at a lower cost then in NYC.

Change the topic line, it's wrong. Doesn't take a youngster to figure that out

The 110 is in France this week.

There's a really nice piece on their web site "marching110.com"
About their performance in Normandy.

If you've ever been to Normandy and Omaha Beach, reading that blog post will surely bring a tear to your eye. Standing and playing on those steps may be the fondest memory of those band members for the rests of their lives. I sure hope someone has video to post.

Agree. I've also been to a Dutch military cemetery in the eastern Dutch town of Rhenen, the first to be hit by the invading Germans on May 10, 1940. Hard not to get misty-eyed.

This coming autumn I'll be visiting the American cemetery in Luxembourg where Patton and thousands of his 3rd Army men are buried.

The only thing I've seen on YouTube so far is a short (2 minutes) video of the 110's March In at Disney.
Sorry couldn't get it to link.

Hopefully, more to come.

Thanks Ted. When they raised their horns to play, it was tough to keep a dry eye as witnessed by the man with the camera walking by at about the 1:35 mark.

+1

As an old Navy guy I had a tear in my listening to that. I certainly hope they play that in Peden this fall, maybe for the military day they've had the last several years.

Normally the 110 posts their next Field Commander and fall performance schedule on their web site right before finals.

I figured their trip to France might affect putting it up,but the trip was a month ago, and still nothing.

Just wondered if anyone out there who is involved with the 110 knows when the schedule will be posted.

I believe that John Rodosh of Toronto, Ohio will be a new Field Commander this Fall. Why this has not been posted, I cannot say.
