Hello all,

For those of you that don't know, I accepted a position with KU Athletics in their Sales & Service department when I graduated a couple of months ago. I'm reaching out in the hopes that I can save anyone coming out here for the game some potential headaches.

If you need anything, tickets, hotel info, best places to eat, anything like that, drop me a line at rkirtland@kuathletics.com .

OU Oh Yeah (except one day) and Rock Chalk Jayhawk.

"except one day"?? My my my, how quickly some people abandon their alma mater. I might work for the Columbus College of Agriculture, but you don't see me rooting for them to beat Ohio (or anyone else)

The proper formulation for that sentence would have been "Rock CHalk Jayhawk (except one day) and OU Oh Yeah!"

I think Ohio's basketball team would beat the Kansas football team right now, KU is that bad.

Hey, ask any of our fine faculty in the Sports Management program: Don't root against your paycheck. Personally, I think I'll feel okay no mater the outcome.

I can attest to this. Which is why when someone asks me "who's your favorite team" I simply say say nobody. Except when that team is Ohio.

We won't know that until closer to the date. Traditionally, one of the two first home games for KU is a night game, so it could be an evening affair.

Ugh is right. I sure pine for the olden days when you knew times well in advance for planning purposes. I booked two night in Knoxville for the Tennessee game just to cover all possibilities.

Yeah, I'd say it's most wise to root for the employer's success. I won't lie - in basketball, that would be very hard for me. But I absolutely understand this point of view.

I see tickets are $45 from Ohio. You can get tickets for $33 or less from other sources. I wish the tickets were better priced, same for Tennessee of course.

You probably could buy them from "Scalpers" on site for $25 on game day.

I always buy from the ticket office and get to sit with the Ohio group,

Anybody care to guess how many Bobcat fans will be at the KU game?

I really want to go to this game, but it means flying. RP, do you know what section our group will be seated?

Don't take this as gospel, however, from unidentified sources, section 25.

Yep, that is true.

Also, sitting in the OU section would be that $45 cost. However, you can sit elsewhere in the general stadium for as low as $30. Not to mention, if you guys managed to get 15 or more people together, I could drive prices way down.

RP: Is tailgating fairly prevalent? From google earth, it doesn't look like there is a lot of parking around the stadium.

Tailgating is prevalent, but there is not much parking around the stadium. The stadium parking is mostly reserved for our Williams Fund Donors, and I would expect to park a couple of blocks away, at least. There is some construction in the area that is making it a logistical nightmare to get to. My recommendation would be to park slightly further away, possibly at one of the campus buildings, and have an OU-Specific tailgate there.

Ugh. Why must "University" have to be attached to our name? Effing Rhode Island gets their name to stand alone. Maybe, just maybe the Ohio with bobcat logo above the name be enough of a clue that Kansas is NOT playing Ohio State that day? I see no other reason why they felt it necessary to include the longer name than for this reason.

Of course this is a school officially known name as "University of Kansas" but wears helmets that say "KU" so maybe they get easily confused? Hopefully we give them a bad enough beating to know the difference between us and OSU.

Are there attempts/efforts from our athletic department to point these sorts of things out to opponents if our media guide plainly states that we wish to be referred to as "Ohio?"
