It's going to be a great fall. With the kinds of leadership this team has, It's going to be a fun season to watch... for most of us, anyway.

Agree. Certainly something to be said for leadership by example. I hope he has a monster season.

Has it been said on here that he doesn't deserve to be our running back because there are others better? This might give you the clue why he has seen the action that others have not. It's the intangibles!

He's on the field because he performs. He is able to perform as well he does, not just because of talent, but also because of his work ethic. I can see why, even though he was still a walkon, Solich insisted that Ouellette wear his old number, 45. I don't recall Solich ever doing that before, but then AJ isn't your average player. It makes me wonder if AJ might end up being a coach some day.

The benefit of a player like AJ go beyond his contributions on the field. Players that are team oriented, and who work that hard can inspire the other players to work harder and get better, too. I'm looking forward to this fall. I'm guessing that we'll see some huge improvement in all the running backs, and a running attack that is going to be very difficult to stop.

Great article, this is why AJ is one of my favorite Bobcats right now.

Hey, if the OL does its job, AJUTM will become a fan favorite! ;-)

OL + TEs, TEs not necessarily speedy. Heitzman was a converted DE, makes for a good aggressive blocking TE. I was thinking Berger would be the type, but, TE is deep and he is being asked to gain weight like Sayles did to move inside.

If it scores points and wins games, AJUTM every play as far as I am concerned. If we went undefeated I doubt anyone would question playcalling. It is refreshing to have a player with this kind of effort and drive. Reminds me some of Chad Brinker, albeit Chad had to overcome a pretty serious medical condition. You never questioned if either are giving 110% every down.

AJ aside, does the QB, secondary, or OL concern you at all? It seems crazy, but I still don't know if I've seen enough of either Windham or Sprague full-time to see what they can do at a high level. And in a pass-happy MAC, a shaky secondary is always a scary proposition.

I recall 2014 BG vs Ohio. Knapke vs Sprague. Knapke ttl 270 yards, Sprague ttl 374 yards. Turnovers BG 0, Ohio 3, Sprague with 2 Int. something tells me Mr. Sprague would like another shot at BG. The returning Smith, Reid, Cope & Mangen accounted for 278 yards of the 386 Ohio passed for that day. Unfortunately the turnovers helped BG take the scoreboard, but, the other stats are an indication of what this group can do.

I've never seen a running back at any level run with more abandon than Ouelette did for Covington against Marion Local in a playoff game. I was on the sideline, literally worried he was going to get knocked out because he ran at full speed into the line of scrimmage every down.

This isn't the right thread to answer those questions, so I'll answer it on the depth chart thread.
