Since the season is still a ways off thought we could pass the time taking about the uniforms around the MAC.

This article has some teams that I agree have uniforms that make me glad we don't have anything resembling what they wear.

I love our classic, simple Colts inspired unis but also don't mind the occasional ghost or black ones either.

Two names on the Hustle Belt article list have since released new duds:

Fiami: http://www.miamiredhawks.com/view.gal?id=195656

Buffalo (is that what they are calling themselves now? I can't keep up):

Both are pretty meh to me. Never have understood why Miami ever got away from a clean, classic look. They are the second most beautiful campus in the MAC, very traditional in a lot of ways. The flashy, modern unis never looked right on them to me. Probably Adidas trying too hard, as always.

Buffalo looks pretty boiler plate, choosing a standard kit from Nike. Probably a lot of other schools will use something similar this season. Can't look at the new bull head logo and not be reminded of the Chicago Bulls or bbq sauce. At least there is not a hidden picture of a sad robot reading a book in the logo.

I'm kinda getting over the fad of who can create the most outlandish uniform. It's like people are afraid to stay neutral and keep a classic look. I realize it's a recruiting tactic, but I wonder how many kids are actually signing on the dotted line simply for a cool uniform to wear. That would be a fantastic study for someone going after their Master's/Doctorate.

That would be a great study. As much as the uniform race is done to attract the best players, it is interesting to think that the four teams in last year's CFB playoff all wear a pretty simple, traditional uniform if going off of their standard (non special game concept design) home/road kit.

The year before you had two fairly vanilla teams in round one play in Alabama and Ohio State and two teams (and especially the one who created this monster) who wear more flashy uniforms (Oregon much more than Florida State).

Russell IMO does an awesome job outfitting Ohio. Simple, classy and about 8,000 combinations. Are the Brick Unis stored away forever?

Maybe for the 2016 season? I don't know, just a guess...

I can't believe I'm admitting this, but I loved Miami's old uniforms.

They were fantastic.

They now look like a theoretical futuristic fire department from "The Fifth Element" or something.

+1billionty. The effort Russell has put into our program shows and is greatly appreciated. Being able to buy a "black" jersey that is a great replica is a luxury I never dreamed of as a student. When in the market, I gravitate to their products now.

Is anyone familiar with a website that keeps a running list of each D1 program and which company makes their uniforms?

I agree about Russell and the quality they have provided for us. One program that I hope always uses them is Western Kentucky so long as Russell/Fruit of the Loom is in Bowling Green (KY). I hope they are like Nike/Oregon or Under Armour/Maryland.

My only minor beef is there is some gear that our coaches/players wear that I wish was available for fans to buy. I'm sure if they felt they could make money on it they would sell it or more likely the coaches want certain things to be special for the players.

OK so they stole our fight song and we got uniforms from their hometown company. Kind of a trade, I guess! :-)
