Thinking of hosting an unofficial Bobcat Attack tailgate at the Tennessee game on September 17. Would like to know what kind of interest there might be in this? We're scouting a location for a tent, tailgate food, beer, etc. No commitment necessary for now--it's a long way off. But if you think you might be game, let me know and we'll get an idea of interest.

I've been a member of this site dating back to the old Tcomm days and yet I haven't met more than two or three of you. I'd be glad to meet a few more here in the Volunteer state. Let me know your interest level and I'll take this planning more seriously.

Thanks!

I'm coming to the game. We will be staying with a newly-found cousin, which is an interesting story in and of itself, but not exactly BA worthy. The cousin is a retired lawyer in Knoxville and big UT fan. Would he be welcome? He does not plan to attend the game as he and his UT buddies watch the games on TV at his house. My wife and I are planning to go to the game, however. So, I guess what I'm saying in a long-winded fashion is that we'd like to attend if the logistics could be worked out. Perhaps, we could have the Tailgate in my cousin's backyard and then run a shuttle to the game! (I didn't say that did I? Shh . . . don't let my wife know I made a shuttle joke. Alan Swank is already on her hit list, and I really don't want to join him. You know the old expression, if "Mama ain't happy, no one is happy." )

I'm in if there is a shuttle from the tent to the game. The ultimate Cat experience

I can probably get us some sort of shuttle lined up - one of the guys I'll be with played wide receiver on UT's last national championship game.

Seriously though, as soon as the game time is set, plans will come into focus. Planning on going to Ye Olde Steakhouse while I'm there and want to work that in too so put me down for "I hope so" Robert.

VERY interested. I felt a little cheated after our last visit to the Knox, where it rained like 3 feet in the hours leading up to the game. I hope the weather cooperates this time.

Ha! I remember that day well. I was at a youth football game about 40 minutes south of Knoxville. I was an assistant coach on that team and wore my Ohio pullover to the game. I was walking the sideline throughout the game in a pouring rain, in my drenched green pullover, getting razzed by the locals, and watching the game reports come in on my phone. Things were looking sweet early, but in the end, I lost both games that day... Hoping for a better outcome this fall.

Alan, Ye Olde is only about 20 minutes from Neyland. Shouldn't be a problem. If you're in on Friday, maybe you can get your steak fix taken care of then.

That's what I'm thinking. My aunt and uncle used to live on Little Switzerland Road right behind the steakhouse. It's more the experience than the steak plus it's kind of neat that you can bring your own wine to such a popular place.

Robert, what's the preferred game time for a UT game in September?

Looks like they didn't release non-conference games times until July 31st last year. The first two "home" games were at 5 and 6.

As a big UT fan and obviously Bobcat fan, I am torn on whether or not I want to cash in my yearly free ticket from a friend for this game or try to wedge my way to get to go to the Battle at Bristol. This upcoming season has the POTENTIAL to be special for the Vols, but so have others that never materialized. If I do end up going to the game I would certainly want to connect with fellow BAers.

If you are going to the game, make sure to sample local Knoxville eats from Petros (a tasty chili/chips concoction similar to a walking taco) and/or Calhoun's (pulled pork sammiches are sold, along maybe with some other menu items at the stadium). Those with refined taste buds may not enjoy either, but if you are a simpleton like me I say give em a shot.

The Vol Walk is another college football tradition you won't want to miss if you have not seen it yet. The Pride of the Southland Band (who I will say will only be the second best band in the stadium on September 17th) does a grand entrance to the stadium for the game, playing songs as they march. If you don't like their version of Rocky Top you may want to skip this part as you will likely hear it about 87 times ; ).

That is if key players and their head coach are not in jail for sexual assault and conspiracy to cover up said crimes.

Ugh-ain't that the truth. I cringe whenever going to ESPN.com etc. as there just seems to be something worse every day. If there is anything being covered up/lied about I hope they just come forward with it already to save the university any more embarrassment and negativity. If everything being claimed does end up being proved true, I can only imagine the mess that will follow. Just want the truth to be unveiled, whatever that might be.

I know many of us on here clamor for bigger and better things for our athletic program but I just hope and pray that we never see Ohio tangled up in something as potential severe as what UT is embroiled in right now. All too often seems to come with the territory for big time D1 athletics.

First Penn State, now UT. Glad we didn't play Vanderbilt in 2013.

Doesn't sound good at all, but the NCAA will probably take five years to do anything and perps will be long gone by that point.

Most of the hotels are downtown Knoxville, but that's pretty much walking distance. There's a Hampton Inn right off the main drag through campus and on the edge of downtown. That may be your closest bet, although my map quest says there's a Four Points Sheraton in the residential district behind World's Fair Park. That would be even closer by foot. If you don't mind a short drive, a lot of people stay at the Knoxville Marriott (used to be the Hyatt--shaped like a staircase). Sits on the east side of downtown, behind the women's basketball hall of fame. I can vouch for that one, as I've actually been there many times.

Bought 4 tickets today from the OHIO ticket office. They said OUr seats will be in sections A-Z13, which are lower bowl seats. Looking forward to seeing everyone at Neyland.

My wife and I will be there, but we will not be in the OHIO section as we received a free ticket offer that was too good to refuse. If you see two dots of green in a sea of orange on TV that may be us! ;-)

I am on the Greater Cincinnati Alumni Chapter Exec Board. I heard the OUAA is planning an official tailgate for the UT Game.

Too good to refuse? The offer must have included a free shuttle ride to and from Neyland Stadium.

Actually, it does BTC. It's in a private vehicle, though, and not a shuttle bus. But, my wife is happy so I'm happy.

I'm planning on making this game. I'm assuming Tennesse has a great tailgating scene. Is there a specific parking lot that Ohio fans should shoot for?
