I don't have time to do much with this info, so I'll focus on the cornerbacks, which was the position I have been most worried about. Jeff Christian was the CB that was supposed to be one of the best recruits in the class of 2015. He was a teammate of Mayne Williams, and was 1st team all-SW district. He was rated 3-stars by all the recruiting services.

Jaylen Morgan was a 2-star player who only played a year of high school ball. His father played in the CFL. Often players who are late to the game, but who have a lot of talent, can blossom into really good players. An example at CB would be Travis Carrie. Here's some film of Morgan playing CB, and he looks like he can play: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXIoKKBF04k

Add these two surprises will really strengthen up the spot. I'm feeling a lot better, suddenly. Maybe the other players are so good these two won't play, but either way, I'm glad to have them.

Nice to see Christian has finally found his way to Athens.

QB Haber is an interesting kid. Don't think he really played much football til he was a HS sophomore at Olentangy Liberty in suburban Columbus. Liberty plays a good schedule in the Ohio Capital Conference, and the kid really progressed. Threw for over 7000 yds and 60 TDs in his career there. Was named Captain of This Week Newspapers' Super 25 team after his sr. year. Originally was going to play small college ball at Ashland, don't know how he ended up in Athens, but glad he did.

Same here. As a fellow Colerain grad it was disappointing to some good players commit to Ohio and not make it here. Here's hoping he and Mayne Williams (along with some others) are successful in green as they were in red!

Must have really wanted it since he took the tough path!

I saw DL Knock play once in high school (lined up against Jeff Christian quite a bit!) and he was a nice player for Springboro High. Seemed to have a high motor and was used in a lot of ways to put the ball in his hands. Could have that chip on his shoulder for being overlooked as he was undersized but played big.

Interesting. Kinda like it a lot. I'm a big fan of 6-6 300lbs guys clogging the middle.

His scout video starts by saying "I play OT and DT" so even though he has been listed as OT up until the roster, I think this could be legit.

His highlight tape shows some DT

Christian played in six games last fall as a freshman for Ohio Dominican, making 10 tackles. Most of his stats actually were accumulated in the early part of the year. He played in only one of the final six games after playing in the first five.

Knock is a friend of a friend's son. Was a preferred walk-on at WVU last year. Visited Ohio and BG a couple of weeks ago before deciding on Ohio.

Not an expert in this area, but, that should mean he will have four to play three, right????

I'm a little confused here -- not unusual for me. Which of these guys have to sit out a year and which are immediately eligible? I take it the two CBs that LC discussed are immediately eligible, but some of the others are transfers, like the guy who was a walk-on at WVU last year, I assume they have to sit out this year. Clarification? Thanks.

He'll have to sit out this year if he played there in 2015.

Found the following on the NCAA web site. Not sure how any of this applies to the recruits mentioned in this thread:

"You may be able to compete immediately if you meet ANY of the following conditions:

*Your sport is no longer sponsored at the school from which you are transferring.
*You return to your first school without participating at the second school.
*You were not considered recruited or receiving athletic scholarship by your first four-year school you are transferring away from.
*You have not practiced or competed in your sport for two years before your transfer.
*You are transferring to a Division III college."

The #3, I suppose, might apply to the WVU wallkon mentioned.

The Haber kid is a nice addition since we didn't get a freshman QB in this class. With two kids coming in next year it will be interesting with Maxwell and Duckworth to go with Haber and the two newbies. I really think JD can hold court this year but the upcoming competition will be exciting. Just notice how the Haber kid looks confident and poised in the pocket. I don't see happy feet at all.

Deeb Haber was on his way to Ashland. He was an all-Ohio Division 1 first team QB. His only negative is he throws a hanging ball. He could compete in the future if his arm gets stronger.

Paxton Bergdoll was an IU recruit for tight end, they must have dropped their offer. He could grow into and All-MAC tight end.

Jaylen Morgan almost committed to BYU, looks like a big physical corner, should add much needed depth.

Never played football before his senior year in high school. Very interesting story. Looks like a tall guy who can add a lot of weight to me, and in the interview he mentions he doesn't have a football body. I have to wonder about his blocking ability. Hope it works out, it seems like we never have enough tight ends.

Between 82 & 88 I expect lots of receptions by TEs. Add in 6, 12, 4, 85, 8, 16, 15 & 18 and the QBs will be aching to throw the ball. Someone remind me I am the "Run the Ball, Stop the Run, Win the Game" guy.

For now he's the 6'7" wide receiver Monroe has been wanting.

According to Arkley's blog post today, he is a scholarship player. Had offers from BYU, San Diego St. and Hawaii.
