FRONTIER COMMUNICATIONS ANNOUNCES MAJOR COLLEGE SPORTS SPONSORSHIP

Aug 22, 2016

Frontier Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: FTR) and IMG today announced that Frontier has signed multimedia rights partnerships with 10 universities, beginning with the 2016 college football season. The school relationships build on Frontier’s previously announced presenting sponsorship of Brad Paisley’s Country Nation College Tour presented by Frontier Communications, which will visit a number of IMG partner universities this fall.

"Frontier is excited to be a proud partner of these colleges and universities from across our footprint,” said Cecilia McKenney EVP and Chief Customer Officer of Frontier Communications. “Combining Frontier - a leader in telecommunications services - and college sports, is an award winning combination for our customers. We look forward to supporting these colleges and their student-athletes, who are the future leaders of this country."

As part of the agreement, Frontier Communications will continue its longstanding partnership with the University of Connecticut, and will serve as the official partner of Central Michigan University, Duke University, Florida State University, Marshall University, Miami of Ohio, Ohio University, Texas Christian University, the University of South Florida and West Virginia University. Additional non-exclusive deals were also announced with UCLA and Notre Dame that include media assets and tickets.

Fans of these schools will begin seeing Frontier signage and media elements at venues for football, basketball and Olympic sports this fall. Also included in the sponsorship are special fan experiences, advertising opportunities and community events that highlight Frontier’s commitment to athletics and local communities.

Frontier gains the rights to football coaches’ headsets at six schools including Central Michigan, Duke, Florida State, Marshall, Miami of Ohio, Ohio and USF, as well as newly-installed Frontier-branded mobile charging stations at football and basketball venues at seven schools including Central Michigan, Florida State University, Marshall University, Miami of Ohio, TCU, USF and West Virginia University.

"Frontier Communications is a brand dedicated to connecting with local communities, and there's no better way to do that than through live events,” said Andrew Judelson, Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing at IMG College. "From our Country Nation College Tour and Professional Bull Riders events to activations across our national college network, we are proud to be partnering with Frontier to bring exciting new programs and content to fans and consumers across the country.”

The Brad Paisley Country Nation College Tour Presented by Frontier Communications will visit downtown Orlando on September 4 in advance of the Camping World Kickoff game between Ole Miss and Florida State the following day. Other stops include West Virginia University on September 9 and Ohio State University on September 15, with additional IMG partner university concerts to be announced.

Is this a teaser to "the Frontier Center".? What's it been two years in the works for naming the Convo?

Maybe if so the Convo will be renamed "Frontierena?"

I would miss the Convo name if someone bought the naming rights but if it resulted in a large influx of cash for improvements it would be worth it. Emphasis on the large part of an influx. Frontier Arena/Frontier Center etc. is not the worst sounding corporate name-sort of like Great American Ballpark here in Cincinnati. Kind of pays homage to Athens being nestled in Ohio's frontier territory going back to the late 1700s.

Does the University provide free public WIFI at the Stadium? Convo?

Just curious. Pretty big craze here in Cincinnati for all arenas and venues for public and students.

I think Frontierland would be the best choice.

This reminds me of the bowl game...can't remember the year... that Solich had "Holzer" taped across his headset. It was white athletic tape with "Holzer" written in black marker. Classic.
