Totally agree. Frank and Company really set this program back today. It was unanimous in the stands where I was sitting. It is time the entire staff goes.

I just mentioned the undisciplined nature of this team YEAR AFTER YEAR. It happens far too often.

The one thing that bothers me the most about Frank is how he has shown a tendency to allow undisciplined and selfish play from his players. Foremost today, the taunting penalty after the interception in the first half and the penalty in overtime on Blair Brown for throwing the Texas St. runner to the ground way after the whistle.

Can someone remind me - didn't Brown have a costly unsportsmanlike penalty late in last year's close loss to Minnesota? I wondered then how Frank handled that play and I'm wondering again if he did anything that would possibly deter Brown from making another stupid, selfish play again.

Ultimately, plays like those mentioned above fall on the head coach.

Utterly horrible all across the board. It's clear this program needs a reset. Pathetic, pathetic team.

Hope we didn't have any recruits watching this in the stadium or at home. Had to be brutal watching for them.
We're Ohio fans so we watch this stuff, they may just sign out. Nothing here to see.

Right here from this site you have a 55 vote poll in which 37 would rather have a MACC than upset Tennessee and a top 25 rank but lose the MAC title game.

It's okay if you hate me.

It's okay if you're feeling good about that.

It's not okay if you ignore the fact that almost 70% prefer a MAC title over one of the all time best seasons a MAC school's ever had and the fact that the MAC title is the first, and far away most important, goal.
Hahaha! Geez Monroe do you not know the first thing about Statistics? So 55 is a representative sample of Bobcat alums? Or even of alums who follow football? I think not!

Are you so insecure that you think people hate you because they offer differing viewpoints that often contradict you opinions (hint: FACTS are different than opinions. Example a coach with a 60% winning record is factual and is not 'mediocre' (your opinion)). But the fact you ignore facts is bothersome. The fact that you are pessimistic before we've played the first game is bothersome. The fact that no win today will satisfy you is bothersome. The fact that you repeat yourself over and over and over is bothersome. The fact you think Solich is mediocre is bothersome. One could go on and on but the game starts in 2 hours. I assume you're well aware that most here don't agree with your repetitive drivel.

But if you think 55 is a statistically significant sample size then not even I with advanced degrees in quantitative areas will convince you otherwise.

OKay. I get it. You're being an obstinate putz to yank my chain.

Try this. 60% winning % against the teams we play is not very good...so many patsies there.

55 poll participants may not be optimal by the science of statistics. But it's all we have. Do you deny it has some credibility? Can you point to any other numeric counting of opinions that we can use?

How about this: Absolutely not a single person in the prediction thread thought that we'd lose to Texas State.

Butt you, really, go ahead and stick to your 'Solich is holy' guns.

Oh. Let me remind you: We lost at home to a Texas State team that has about no experience. Yeah, that's how we started with the team that L.C. assures us 2016-18 will be really good, will be Solich's best.

The sun will come up tomorrow. It's only a game. Just enjoy the experience. If you think it's that important, get a reality check.

I expected the penalties, because that's been very consistent in the Frank era. What I didn't expect was for the defense to stay in the locker room. What a complete disappointment.

On the positive side, Windham looked good for the most part.
And he got a ton of experience in a tight game at the end of regulation and in 3 OTs. (almost a game and a half of reps today)

All this without his starting running back and one of the top 3 receivers.

I don't need to yank your chain. Your complete lack of the most basic knowledge of statistics shows you're the 'putz' in this particular case.

Where to start? Our schedule is our schedule. We can't do much about that. 60% wins is a fact.

The poll with 55 votes is non-scientific. It's biased as well. But that's because this is a sports forum. Clearly you didn't take any QM classes in the College of Business.

I never said Solich is 'holy'. I said he's the best coach we've had in 40 years.

I didn't see the game today. I have a life .... we were with friends having fun. Yes, we lost. And I see the world just ended.

Further, per the posts by you and others, we've now been eliminated from a possible MACC I guess.

But the joke is on you as of today because once again you choose now to use a single data point to draw a conclusion as to how the season will go.

Have fun ranting!! My life doesn't revolve around a game that 18 - 22 year old kids play.

Reading the posts has actually been fun for me. I think an atomic bomb went off and life is over as we know it. I heard the rest of the season is cancelled due to this catastrophic event today.

Agreed. Windham's play, the fumble not withstanding, was better than expected. I believe this team will learn from this and bounce back strong next week. I'll take the Bobcats and the points right now.

The definition of Insanity doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. I know we are usually in big trouble when the bookies peg us as 3 TD favorites. It seldom ends well. I have been hesitant to weigh in on Monroe's take on Solich because I've been at this since the Hess golden year and know just how hapless the program was for decades, albeit the brief Grobe cameo.

That said it's time for a facelift and I'm not referring to the concrete falling off the stadium.

True; why play the games at all. Why care about them.

If you think Solich is a better coach than Grobe, then you were not conscious for some of the last 40 years.

Sure, if you ignore data points like the 55 participant poll and every single prediction thread view on whether we'd beat TX State and you compare Solich to some of the worst coaches ever, then Solich is a pretty fair and improving (what?!) coach.

Party on, my good friend.

Yes, it's just a game. But the "who cares" attitude is one of the main reasons OU is one of the worst d-1 schools in the state. Youngstown State would beat OU by 3 scores if they played tomorrow. Frank has done a lot for the program during this 12 year stint but it's time to hold somebody to a standard, and raise the ceiling. You don't build a program with losses to Texas State. Unexplainable, and below average. To hell with being average

This. Please stop with the "just a game" crap. Yeah we know, there are more important things in life. But seriously can we stop with the apathy towards this program? Oh we lost, oh well the sun comes up tomorrow! Yay! I'm with Lynx here, it's time to hold this program to a higher standard than this.

Our last two losses were to programs who have been at FBS level for a grand total of 8 seasons. I'm OK with the Appy State loss. They're a good team. I'm not OK with today. Texas State was picked to finish last in the Sun Belt. Last.

Congrats to Texas State on the victory. You certainly earned it.

As I stated earlier, no one in the area where I was sitting came to Frank's defense. As a matter of fact, they all agreed we have now ridden this horse/regime too long. Finally, where I was sitting would not be considered "cheap seats". All of the people in my area have paid a premium to sit there. In other words, people who actually support the program with monetary donations on a regular basis all wanted Frank and Company to go.

Did this monied elite, of which you speak, name a reasonable replacement? Please let this readership know as we're all ears.

I don't have a specific name in mind but I have said on this forum before that I would rather at this point love to see Ohio give an Ohio coach.. maybe a smaller division collegiate coach or an up and coming coach from an elite Ohio high school conference...like the GCL (I am a Catholic Ohio SW guy)..or another comparable upper level conference than stay with this regime..

Offensively, all of football...college,pro and even high school has evolved..Ohio hasn't.

Get the right coach from the right area of Ohio...it could even help with recruiting...(ESPN 30 for 30 Tressell and Clarrett????)

1. Hats off the Texas State. They deserved to win that game. They played better. They played harder. They played smarter. I hope their fans enjoy Athens’ hospitality.

2. I love football. This weekend marks the beginning of my thirty third football season. More importantly to me, it marked my son’s fourth football season. And we got to share this opening Saturday together.

3. I want my son to love football as much as I do, because it’s fun to throw yourself into as a fan. It’s a drug, probably my only real addiction. It has its highs, and its lows, but it always leaves me coming back for more.

4. But it gets harder to be a fan—an addicted fan—as time goes on. Saturdays used to be about football, yes, but also friends, and reliving memories, and making new ones. But friends grow up, move further and further away, get their own lives, and they leave your Saturdays. When that happens, the highs aren’t as high, and there’s not nearly as much to lift up the lows. But at least the football is still there.

5. And now I get to make some of those memories with my son, and that’s great. So it doesn’t really bother me that 3 minutes into the game he’s complaining that it’s too hot, and too loud, and that he wants to leave. I know if he just sticks it out, he’ll come to love this game too. And if he loves it, then I’ll always have that friend to share my Saturdays with.

6. So it’s great when, on the drive home, after sitting in the sun for 5 hours, with a sweaty, greasy, sticky preschooler wallowing me, whining that he just wants to go home, that preschooler tells me how much fun he had.

7. It probably makes me a better fan, too. I don’t think I cussed more than 3 times today. I think I only threw my ballcap on the ground once. That’s major progress, trust me.

8. So I’m not even mad that we lost. Disappointed, sure. But we took a major step today in father-son bonding, and I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything.

9. Fire Tim Albin. I’m tired of watching this bull$h!t gimmick offense go three-and-out drive after drive.

The program feels stagnat. It seems we are stuck in a 5-8 wins per year, be bowl eligible and that's about it. One reason we have been able to at least have winning conference records is the fact that Ohio plays in the MAC East and not the West. This is a very important time in terms of the program needing to take the next step. I think people who attend the games can see how desperately Peden needs upgrades. For those improvements to happen you have to have happy donors that feel great about the direction of the program. This is NOT the time for the program to stall out or even worse take a nose dive. I would hope that if there was coaching turnover that there is an assistant coach at a high level program or a HC at a Playoff Subdivision program that would jump at the opportunity to take a program that has proven it can win. Not to mention has a new IPF to help with recruiting.
