I know that not all Power 5 players are "true" studs but I really thought Houchins from Louisville could turn out to be somebody for us. Is it a testament to how he really isn't that great or is it a testament to our young guys like Fox, Hagan, Howell and even JUCO Miller that he's not even on the depth chart?

Or, are the injuries that nagged him at Louisville still hampering him? Or, if he's off the team, maybe it was a medical reason.

Does anyone have any Intel on what time Saturday OUPD will close South Green drive in front of Peden? I'm wondering if some of us early tailgaters might get through beforehand.

"Only 32 players on the roster have played in a Football Bowl Subdivision game by Withers’ estimate and out of the starting 25 (offense, defense and special teams), the Bobcats will start nine freshmen and sophomores with 14 total underclassmen littering the rest of two-deep chart."

His point, I am sure, is that he is so happy his Ohio Bobcat coaches have built a program which will pit a depth chart of upperclassmen vs Texas State's depth chart of underclassmen. With an extra prayer for coach Solich's continued good health so he may stay at Ohio to break the record for wins by a MAC coach. Pretty sure, that would be his point.

His point is that no matter how well Ohio plays, it will prove nothing. Even then, I disagree, because Ohio could play poorly and win by a lot, or they could play well, and not win by much. I'm going to judge them by how well they execute. What I'm looking for in particular is:
1. The offensive line is rebuilt. Can they control the line of scrimmage?
2. The defensive line should be dominant. Can they smother the QB before he can break contain?
3. How does the coverage look?
4. How do special teams look?

Given the subtle hints from the Athletic Department that season tickets are up, I assume that Peden will be sold out tomorrow. Are we looking at a potential record crowd? It would be nice given the national TV coverage on CBS Sports and weather of low 80's, low humidity, not a cloud in the sky, and an ideal 3:30 pm kickoff time. GO OHIO!

Monroe reminds me of the crazy/obnoxious fan in the Major League movies, you know, the one who always taunted the team from the stands... Full of passion for the team (was at every game!), yet will crap on any type of accomplishment. Ultimately, at the end, when they won the pennant, things changed. Of course Monroe wants the World Series! lol

My simple point is that our opponent is awfully inexperienced and likely won't offer much of a test.

That's not a slam. This game was scheduled years ago I assume so, obviously, no one knew that such inexperience would be the case.

Do judge our performance accordingly.

Go nutso at me for pointing this out now.

Now, if you're going to point out that we're really doing okay because our O-line got it together in the 2nd half of the third of three consecutive huge losses, then I'm going to wonder about your ability or willingness to understand and evaluate.

I'm going to disagree that it won't offer a test, but the test is how focused our players are for 60 minutes. One of my biggest gripes about our teams the past few years is how we tend to lack a killer instinct in the latter parts of games. If we get a lead early, we sit on it. If we don't get a lead early, we fall apart.

I want to see if we can keep the pedal floored for the entire game. I want a 2 TD lead at half turn into a 4 touchdown lead by the end of the game. I want the second and third teamers to get the taste of blood and like it. I want to see an Ohio Bobcat team that dominates and doesn't quit.

(And that's no disrespect to our Texas State friends. This is about OHIO, and only OHIO, and the kind of attitude a championship caliber team better have.)

...and yet I was right, and I'm sure that most everyone other than you could see it. Even though Ohio was beaten last year by Bowling Green, the offensive line, which had struggled up to that point in the season, turned the corner, and the remainder of the season was much different. After that they soundly defeated both Kent and Ball State, and proceeded to upset NIU, and very nearly upset a very, very good Appalachian State team, a team that just took Tennessee to overtime.

Soon we'll find out if I'm right about 2016 and 2017 being very, very good teams. If they are as good as I expect, what will be interesting will be how far into the season it takes before you admit that is a good team, and you start to enjoy the Ohio wins with everyone else.

I prefer to put most of my emphasis on games that have meaning, not games that come after the MACC is out of reach.

Wasn't that impressed with Appy State in the bowl game. They were okay, not terrific.

When you're only obsessed with a MACC, then all the other games have no meaning. Yep, you are so wrong, but are incapable of understanding why they mean something. What a fan!

I've been away for a while (I'm sure nobody has missed me) but I see at least all the BAers are in mid season form already! I'm sure the Bobcats (at least one team of them) will be in the same form as BAers once this game gets underway.

All games have meaning! Geez, you'd make a great coach! "Hey guys we're out of contention for a MACC so the rest of the games have no meaning."

So you weren't impressed with App State? Not surprised. Is there any team you ARE impressed with?

Very, Very good point. And, richards, you have given us all the true truth.

Except that you haven't.

http://www.bobcatattack.com/messageboard/topic.asp?FromPa...

Right here from this site you have a 55 vote poll in which 37 would rather have a MACC than upset Tennessee and a top 25 rank but lose the MAC title game.

It's okay if you hate me.

It's okay if you're feeling good about that.

It's not okay if you ignore the fact that almost 70% prefer a MAC title over one of the all time best seasons a MAC school's ever had and the fact that the MAC title is the first, and far away most important, goal.

Hahaha! Geez Monroe do you not know the first thing about Statistics? So 55 is a representative sample of Bobcat alums? Or even of alums who follow football? I think not!

Are you so insecure that you think people hate you because they offer differing viewpoints that often contradict you opinions (hint: FACTS are different than opinions. Example a coach with a 60% winning record is factual and is not 'mediocre' (your opinion)). But the fact you ignore facts is bothersome. The fact that you are pessimistic before we've played the first game is bothersome. The fact that no win today will satisfy you is bothersome. The fact that you repeat yourself over and over and over is bothersome. The fact you think Solich is mediocre is bothersome. One could go on and on but the game starts in 2 hours. I assume you're well aware that most here don't agree with your repetitive drivel.

But if you think 55 is a statistically significant sample size then not even I with advanced degrees in quantitative areas will convince you otherwise.
