I think I've about had it with opposing coaches who keep harping on how we do not beat ourselves. With all the evidence of personal fouls that have turned punting situations into touchdown drives (Minnesota and App State last year come immediately to mind in both of our close losses and last week of course) I think it's pretty obvious that we have a terrible habit of beating ourselves.
Got to agree with you on that.
The MAC leading 13 penalties outweighs all the positives combined. 13 penalties are they kidding for a team composed almost entirely of 4th and 5th year players. Running laps owed for all those would be all they should get accomplished this week.

Since allowing any credit to an opponent has gone totally out of fashion playing a blame game against your own team is all we are left.

Oh, and who was the genius who said Ohio -21? If I read that from another Ohio "fan" as if it really means anything ......

What exactly is your point here? It was well known that Ohio was a three score favorite in Vegas.

And why would we give credit to an opponent for penalties Ohio committed? I think a lot of us gave credit to Texas State for the game they played, but Ohio shot itself in the foot also. Plenty of times.

Vegas' Bowling Green +27.5 really nailed it vs OSU huh.
Vegas' Okla -10 vs Houston, Vegas really nailed that.
Vegas' USC +10 vs Alabama, Vegas really nailed that.

And those were games, on which, they were really trying.

Well, if you are so much wiser than the Vegas book makers why don't you set the lines for this week on here and back your knowledge with a little cash. I mean after all they haven't built those hotels in Vegas off of the profits they make from the all you can eat buffets.

I have never proposed wisdom beyond Vegas. Monroe, of course, turned my disdain for the Ohio -21, into "Bcat2 > Vegas." My point all along is college football has too many unknowns for Vegas or anyone to predict with certainty. Hindsight is 20-20. That's why you never see Monroe join in the prediction threads. Better to just wait til after the games and then .....

Too many variables to predict with certainty? You really believe that Vegas just arbitrarily sets numbers and says "man I hope we get lucky"? It's based on what line will make them the most money, and is moved based on what the betting public believes. It's nice to know you don't believe Vegas is very good at what they do.

That is ignorance with dedication. Cite a few games but ignore the overall record of Vegas and its profitability on gambling.

There's no reasoning with some people.

Really, Bcat2, it's sad how obstinate you are, how you stick to theories when the facts don't support them at all.

Just looking at the Texas State game thread I found you, myself and C Money congratulating them. I don't have time to look at every thread made after the loss. There were quite a few.

Found C. Money. "Hats off the Texas State. They deserved to win that game. They played better. They played harder. They played smarter. I hope their fans enjoy Athens’ hospitality." ......" I’m not even mad that we lost. Disappointed, sure. But we took a major step today in father-son bonding, and I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything." but "Fire Tim Albin. I’m tired of watching this bull$h!t gimmick offense go three-and-out drive after drive."

GoCats105 " Please stop with the "just a game" crap. Yeah we know, there are more important things in life. But seriously can we stop with the apathy towards this program? Oh we lost, oh well the sun comes up tomorrow! Yay! I'm with Lynx here, it's time to hold this program to a higher standard than this.

Our last two losses were to programs who have been at FBS level for a grand total of 8 seasons. I'm OK with the Appy State loss. They're a good team. I'm not OK with today. Texas State was picked to finish last in the Sun Belt. Last.

Congrats to Texas State on the victory. You certainly earned it."

Yes. We have two among us showing the way to lose with a little style, but, you two were pretty much it.

AP story that pretends to be a Solich story but is really about Kansas: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2016/09/09/sol... /

Interesting fact is that Solich never lost to Kansas during his tenure as Neb HC.

Jayhawk fan here coming in peace.

Looking forward to this match up. I've always been a big Solich fan from all the way back to his Nebraska days. So I know this will be a tough out for my Jayhawks.

As for the game I'm eager to see how your size on both lines affects Kansas and how your secondary holds up the speedy Jayhawk receivers.

KU does get back 3 key defenders in the front 7. DJ Williams, Marquis Roberts, and Jackie Desir didn't play week one. KU felt the impact of not having those guys up the middle week one. I'm glad to have them back, because I know how potent the Ohio line and run game can be.

I know you guys run a cover 4 and I'm eager to see if you're going to try to play more press coverage verse the Jayhawks. Rhode Island had nobody that could cover the Jayhawk receivers and they had a field day last Saturday. A lot of big play capability at wideout and tight end.

Even though the offensive line look better than it had any time last season I still believe it's a concern vs the Ohio defensive front. How the tackles try to contain your stud defensive end could play a big role in the eventual outcome of the game.

Lastly, other than a couple turnovers Kansas played a very clean game especially in the penalty department. Coach Beaty really makes a point to play penalty-free. So far so good but obviously Ohio's going to put a lot more pressure on Kansas than Rhode Island ever did. How did the Jayhawks respond in a close game or possibly playing from behind? We shall see Saturday. I'll be there in hopefully quite a few of you show up as well. Lawrence is a fantastic College town and the Kansas campus is absolutely breathtaking. For those of you coming to the game this weekend I hope you have a safe and fun trip but hopefully not at the expense of my Jayhawks. Lol

Another KU fan here, enjoy the game tomorrow! Glad to being playing and hosting your team, should be fun (well, one of us won't be so happy at the end). Sounds like awesome weather for the game.

I am curious as to what type of adjustments your coaching staff may make from the Texas State game, specifically in your secondary, whether you mix in some press coverage or something. Our defense gave up more yards on the ground to an over matched Rhode Island team than we would have liked. As mentioned, we get some kids back on the DL this week but I feel like you may have success on the ground on us. Papi White sounds like he can really turn on the burners if he hits a seam and is dangerous catching passes as well.

For you Bobcat fans traveling to the game. I wish you safe travels!

Somewhat related but not really, PAC 12 Network and all of their affiliates just added their channels to Sling TV.

Scanned a couple of Jayhawk threads. Their fans seem to be confidence-inspired by the Texas State debacle. Can't blame them, but here's hoping our boys take it to heart.

Ohio's starting running back, Ouellette, is out for the game. He's a brutal power runner with speed. White has speed and moves. Brown and Irons are backs with a lot of potential who are still developing. I'm hoping that by the end of the day Saturday, you are sick of one or both of them.
