Anyone got info to share before the ticket office opens back up?

Jayhawk here, and I come in peace. We aren't very good at football, but we have a nice campus and a decent gameday atmosphere.

Frank Solich hasn't beaten KU since 2003. If my math is correct, he is 28-0 against KU as a player, assistant coach, and head coach.

If you are looking for tickets, head over to stubhub. Tix are under ten bucks right now. Scalpers will be selling tickets outside the stadium as well. Prices will be under face value. Avoid rows 1-10, as you won't be able to see anything from down that low.

The visitors section is on the east side of the stadium at the south end. If you purchase a ticket online or outside, you can probably just sit with your fans without much problem. The visiting team also uses the east sideline. Most of our students leave at half, so you will be able to move closer to midfield, especially if you are winning.

This week is band day, so there will be several high school bands present taking up valuable seats, especially on the east side. You will love our band. We play Stand Up and Cheer a bunch, mostly because it was written by a Jayhawk for KU.

If you have kids, there is a free "fun zone" on the practice fields south of the stadium a couple of hours prior to kickoff. They have inflatable jump houses and games for kids.

If you are a basketball fan, try to make it to Allen Field House prior to the game. There is a Booth Family Hall of Fame building attached, which is free. The new DeBruce Center, which contains the original rules of basketball as typed by James Naismith, should also be open (and free).

There is also a natural history museum and an art museum. You might have to walk past the judgmental stares of coeds working the front desk as you walk by the free-will donation bucket.

You are allowed to bring one unopened bottle of water per person into the stadium. KU does not sell alcohol at the stadium. Alcohol in cups outside the stadium is fine.

Thanks, Jayhawker. We appreciate the information. I, personally, will not be able to attend this game as I'm going to the game the following week at Tennessee and can't afford both trips. You'll notice the complete meltdown on our board right now after a we lost to Texas State in three OTs -- a game most thought we'd win on autopilot. Luckily, our team doesn't read this board and they will come to Kansas with much better attitude than the typical board poster.

Deadline to order Kansas and Tennessee tickets was Friday, September 2nd

Where is best place to tailgate pre-game? Can you give any info?
If you want the full experience, pack your gear and walk it onto "the hill" south of the stadium. If you want to stay with your car it's tougher. Memorial is nestled into a neighborhood so many people pay to park in someone's yard and tailgate there.

Some great tips, thanks. I've been to KU for a couple of football games - including when they snapped an 11-game losing streak to K-State. The campus is beautiful, and Lawrence is a wonderful college town. The trip from Kansas City's airport is very fast. It makes for a very nice long weekend, but I can't make it this year.

A KU friend bought us tickets for our two families. So 3 green shirts in a sea of blue. Hopefully they're friendlier than the Marshall fans.

I will say this - they sure were friendly when we were playing NC at the Sweet 16 game in St Louis!

It will be a friendly crowd. Good people in general, but with the way our program has been the past 6 years, everyone has plenty of humility.

Your best bet is to pay to park in one of the yards nearby and tailgate there.

If you are looking for a free alternative, you could go to Clinton Park at 5th and Alabama. The stadium is at 11th and Alabama, so there would be a bit of a walk if you park there.

9:30 is plenty. Try your luck on Maine, Alabama, and Illinois between 10th and 11th streets.
