Totally amazing that our QB - starting his first game ever - has statistically one of the best games for us since god knows when, and no one can find anything nice to say about him.
Paul. You must be new. It was started/discussed before the game. The Monroe effect. The opponent is derided into such a pitiful state that no amount of good work will have any value. Also, as after any loss it is play time for Monroe and his. Anything positive is responded to with the "Helen Keller could throw for 400 vs Texas State, go away."

Wait, did you say the QB had a good, "one of the best games for us since god knows when" kind of days? You have to have that wrong because there was the obligatory "Fire Albin" thread and if the QB did good how could the OC need "fired?"
Windham wasn't horrible at all. He had one CRUCIAL mistake that ended up really costing Ohio a chance to seal the win. That fumble was bad. He did miss on a handful of pretty basic throws, but overall showed flashes. As did a lot of the other offensive players (Brown, Irons, White, Ball, etc)

Defense wasn't terrible despite the tons of yards/points TxSt racked up.

My BIGGEST fault lies with this coaching staff. People here have beat this drum like a dead horse....but this has got to change.

You can't continue to put your players in terrible positions over and over and over again. You can't continue to allow "lack of discipline" plays over and over and over again.

The Blair Brown unnecessary roughness...
Papi White fair-catching a punt at the 4-yd line...
Going shotgun repeatedly in short-yardage situations....
Running Papi White thru the middle on short yardage situations...
Continuing to let TxSt pick up 8-12yds per pass play OVER AND OVER AND OVER again.
TxSt scoring drives:
8 plays, 61 yards, 2:06 - TD (7-6)
9 plays, 68 yards, 1:07 - TD (14-6)
7 plays, 75 yards, 1:56 - TD (21-16)
7 plays, 71 yards, 2:11 - TD (28-31)
5 plays, 50 yards, 0:49 - TD (35-31)
5 plays from own 29-yd line for FG, :33 - FG (38-38)

That's crazy....not one of their scoring drives took more than 2:11 and each one covered AT LEAST 50 yards.

When were they planning on making ANY adjustments. TxSt did the same thing all day and at no point did Ohio have an answer for it.

I don't blame the kids....inexperienced as some of them may be....the coaching staff HAS TO BE BETTER.

It's the same thing....over and over and over....

There is talent on this team. Talent that should be able to handle TxSt and talent that should compete for a MAC title.

But as long as this coaching staff is in place, they will continue to fall short.

It's sad. But it's painful to watch whether you're in person or on TV.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that if this team was more exciting to watch....fans would hang around....students would hang around. The 8-3 Grobe era, students stayed around to watch. The good part of the Tettleton era...students hung around.

That product that was on display Saturday was as ugly as I've seen it in the first half. Very hard to justify sitting in that sun to watch Ohio settle for FGs and 3-and-outs. Brutal.

The players deserve better from their coaches. So do the fans.

Because the offense does one of two things: it moves the ball in a hurry, or it gives the ball back to the defense in a hurry.

What do you not want to do as a favorite against a major underdog? Let the dog hang around! Look at the black hole that was our offense in the 2nd quarter:

-7 plays, 30 yards, missed FG
-3 plays, 2 yards, punt
-3 plays, 5 yards, punt
-4 plays, 23 yards, punt

Windham was 5 of 12 during that quarter, with 33 yards passing and 11 yards rushing during the 2nd quarter. His completions were for 15 yards, 4 yards, 0 yards, 0 yards, and 14 yards. After the missed FG, Ohio never moved the ball beyond its own 27.

Meanwhile, Texas State managed 2 TD drives in the second quarter and took a 14-6 lead into half. If you are a 21 point underdog, and you go into half with more than a TD lead, you are doing something very right and the opponent is doing something very wrong.

But there's no problem with the offense because our QB threw for 380 yards in 4 quarters and 3OT.

(Officially, I don't think Windham did horribly. He missed some throws early but settled in OK. I think he could have done even better though if we'd let him throw deep more, especially in the 2nd half, as that would also make the defense play more honest. I don't know how many times I caught the safeties cheating up hard because they knew our offense wasn't going to go deep over the middle. It's slip screens and dump offs galore!)
Yup. Really, credit to Texas State for their strong effort the entire first half. However, as others have pointed out, the offense posted 630 yards, and 38 points in regulation. They did their part. Again, credit to Texas State for their strong first half.

Was in Vegas and the line was wide, so I went with my gut and bet on Texas St. Anyway it was an easy $250.00 in my pocket.

Love Frank Solich and will probably name my son after him if when I have a son.

Loyal Bobcat fan with a novice knowledge of sports. Based on my observation we looked like a team that should have smoked Tex. State. Some of the play calls seemed to be stupid. Finally I am starting to jump on the band wagon of Frank retiring and getting along with his staff. Hopefully this was just a bad game and we will get back on track. Heck if we went 1-3 and took care of business in the MAC I would be happy as a hog in mud.

Year after year without a MACC is just getting old.
Anyway I just wanted to vent and should be happy I won money. Thanks Team.

2015 Ohio at Minnesota - Final Minnesota drive, no personal fouls on that drive, but two offsides penalties, and a pass interference gave Minnesota critical yardage. Followed by the Ohio delay of game penalty that will live in infamy (off topic, but hard to let go).
There was also a Minnesota drive in that game where OHIO had stopped them and they would have been facing 4th and long. Wait! The dude who made the crucial tackle stands over the runner and taunts him. Out comes the flag! Fifteen yards. First Down. Minnesota continues the drive and scores a TD. So, a punting situation is cleverly turned into a TD-ending drive. I don't need to point out that this could very easily have made the difference between this game ending up an L instead of a W.
You're absolutely right - first half - Blair Brown.

He looked like a third-string QB on most other MAC teams. Hopped around in the pocket, failed to plant his feet, threw behind receivers...threw yards above their heads in a couple of cases...fumbled the ball at the worst possible time. IMO, his ceiling is pretty low. Sad that we're in this position but, again, when you've got Tim Albin and Scott Ipshording developing your QBs you learn to look forward to basketball season.
