Fellow 'Cats:
While attending the Texas State game, I did not have the opportunity to check out the new End Zone Pavilion setup. I intend to do so at the Gardner Webb game if it seems worthwhile. Can anyone who was there offer some opinions on what your impressions were of it? I checked out the Tailgreat setup and came away less than impressed. I thought there would be handfuls of tv's tuned to various games being played throughout the country. Does the pavilion have tv's, and if so, how many? Any impressions ( such as food selection etc.) will be appreciated.
I am just trying to decide if my guest and I should bother taking the time to go there or if our tailgating experience will be better spent elsewhere. Thanks for your help.

The North End Zone pavilion does have TVs but I don't remember how many. Pretty nice set up. Menu includes sammiches etc which go beyond normal concessions. I think most people would spend $10-15 for food and drinks. Beer is sold. As for Tailgreat Park, I wouldn't base your opinion on first impression. I thought it was a "down" day for Tailgreat for whatever reason.

As for TVs, the Bobcat Club tent beside the Convo has TVS I believe. Plus if you mill around Tailgreat again Saturday you might see some TVS here and there.

Unfortunately, the forecast is for high 80s temps. With a 2 pm start, it could be another brutal heat day.

I went in there. It had two or three TVs with games going. Beer (including Jackie O's!!) was selling for I think $4 a can, and they had an assortment of simple stadium fare for sale. The negative was the heat. Despite being shaded by the tent, the tent also served as a heat trap. It was like a sweat lodge in there during the first game. They tried to open some tent flaps, but it was still a good 10 degrees warmer in the tent than out of it. Overall, I like it and appreciate the effort, but it does need some fine tuning.

Since the weather channel is calling for 88 degree temps Saturday, it sounds like it would be too hot to bother trying to check it our this weekend. I really appreciate the feedback concerning this new venture. If anyone else has opinions, please share. Thanks again.

Is there a cost for admission to the tent?

The only thing you need to enter the Hospitality Tent at the Convo is an active Bobcat Club membership. You are also permitted/encouraged to bring non BC members in with you. They have 2 or 3 tvs going and a good selection of food and drinks is available for purchase at a reasonable price.

Are they still in a cash-only mode for this venue? I wasn't in it for the home opener, but last year, that's what we encountered.

Wow! Talk about a bunch of misinformation. The only way in is with a pass that you received when you got your season tickets. As Jeff said, you had to give $750 or more last year to get in this year.

16 ounce domestic beer is $5 and wine is $6 (very small glasses). I saw two small TV's (not sure what you need those for when you're coming to watch the Bobcats play).

They could use more chairs though. We sat in chairs and watched the game. As for the heat, we felt is was actually cooler in there out of the direct rays of the sun.

Thanks Alan. We will check it out Saturday and follow up on here. If there are any other impressions/opinions, I am listening.

I personally spent 10 minutes at the new facility. To damn hot. Sandwiches{pulled pork} were expensive. but the quality was excellent. They did not have enough seating, but people left immediately because of the heat. If the weather stayed in the 70's it would be very nice.

Thanks Panda for your input. Was there any prefgame/tailgate atmosphere, or was it a boring crowd?

Just got home from the pavilion. Couple of nice upgrades from last week - free popcorn and they handed out printed stats at half time - that was a suggestion we made last week. The suggestions we made this week were fans in the top of the tent to keep the air moving - it was much hotter this week than last and diversify with the PA music pregame. We got there at 1:30 - we never get there that early - and after listening to the crap on the PA I now know why.

Beer prices - $5 for Coors Lite, Miller Lite and Bud (16 oz) and $5 for Jackie O's 12 oz cans. A work in progress but a great place to be able to socialize, watch the game and enjoy no lines for food and beverages.

Good seeing you there. The no lines part is great.
